Having SARS-CoV-2 once confers much greater immunity than a vaccine—but no infection parties, please (Natural Immunity)

The natural immune protection that develops after a SARS-CoV-2 infection offers considerably more of a shield against the Delta variant of the pandemic coronavirus than two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, according to a large Israeli study that some scientists wish came with a “Don’t try this at home” label. The newly released data show people who once had a SARS-CoV-2 infection were much less likely than vaccinated people to get Delta, develop symptoms from it, or become hospitalized with serious COVID-19.

The study demonstrates the power of the human immune system, but infectious disease experts emphasized that this vaccine and others for COVID-19 nonetheless remain highly protective against severe disease and death. And they caution that intentional infection among unvaccinated people would be extremely risky. “What we don’t want people to say is: ‘All right, I should go out and get infected, I should have an infection party.’” says Michel Nussenzweig, an immunologist at Rockefeller University who researches the immune response to SARS-CoV-2 and was not involved in the study. “Because somebody could die.”

The researchers also found that people who had SARS-CoV-2 previously and then received one dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine were more highly protected against reinfection than those who once had the virus and were still unvaccinated.

I believe you could donate blood at the red cross and they may provide paperwork to you about your antibodies.

That's precisely the reason that I won't be giving blood any time in the foreseeable future. I prefer not to have my name in any database related to Covid test results.

Less than $40 for an antibody test.

Thank you for referencing that article yesthatjallen. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

"The study demonstrates the power of the human immune system, but infectious disease [faceless, non-elected] experts emphasized that this vaccine and others for COVID-19 nonetheless remain highly protective against severe disease and death [emphasis added]."

Because we said so!

My doctor tried to argue with me last spring his CDC overlords pitch that their vaccines were better than my own immunity from having had covid. He couldn’t explain how natural immunity that works with virtually every other disease on the planet would never work with covid only the vaccines.

I’ll go with natural immunity any day.

...why not create a genuine vaccine in the conventional way, and offer it for use?

Because it will not lend itself to the long term goal of depopulation.

That’s what Sinovac and Sinopharm are, but the have reportedly very low efficacy.

It takes a long time to develop an inactivated virus vaccine because you have to culture a lot of live virus, first for development and testing and then for production.

Also, you can’t just inject dead virus, the immune system will ignore it because it’s dead so you have to find an adjuvant that will work to make the immune system sit up and take notice. That bit can take a lot of testing of various combinations and strengths and probably why the rushed Chinese vaxxes are pretty worthless.

Novavax is producing a subunit vaccine which uses purified pathogen pieces but it’s not available yet, still processing its EUA application.

I noticed that and the fact that it includes Novavax which is not available anywhere in the world yet.

This is an example of a foreign created meme for a misinformation campaign intended to keep people frightened and upset.

There are IgG IgM tests for $25 at Kroger’s pharmacy, and T-cell tests; look up on T-DETECT for locations.

IIRC t cell tests can tell if one had the virus longer ago than the 6 months or so that the IgG IgM tests do.

Did y’all get IgG IgM and/or T-cell tests?

Was it the IgG IgM test or was it the T-cell test?

IgG IgM tests at Kroger’s is $25.

Which test is at CVS, IgG IgM or T-cell?

CVS tested for both IgG and IgM.

And I have both.

No T cells, but the fact that I have the antibodies makes that a 100% bet.

Just the regular antibodies, so I guess the IgG/IgM. It was a same-day at the clinic. My understanding is that the T-Cell test takes a few days in a lab.

If this is so, why not create a genuine vaccine in the conventional way, and offer it for use?

They don’t know how to ensure that the antibodies created by a conventional vaccine don’t make it easier for a mutation of a coronavirus to infect you.

People tried making a coronavirus vaccine for decades. Once the coronavirus mutated, the vaccinated were weaker against the mutation than the unvaccinated.

I don’t see how the MRNA vaccines would be any different in that regard.
