A Texas woman is suing Starbucks over first-degree burns she suffered, claiming she was given the wrong coffee and then spilled it on herself when she gave it back, court papers say.

Mary Simms ordered some joe on April 14 from a Starbucks drive-thru in Tomball, Texas, according to the suit filed in Harris County, Texas.

The employee informed Simms that she was given the wrong drink and when Simms stopped her car and handed back the coffee, the lid came off and the coffee spilled on Simms’ lap.

“As a result of the spill, [Simms] sustained first and second-degree burns causing severe personal injuries and damages,” the suit says.

McDonald’s coffee was on par with industry standards.

No. It wasn't. You obviously know nothing about the case.

The McDonald's Hot Coffee Case Find Law

McDonald's coffee was served at a temperature between 180 and 190 degrees Fahrenheit. McDonald's had long known that this was 20 to 30 degrees hotter than the coffee served at most other restaurants; in fact, this temperature range was indicated in its operations manual. In the 10 years before the case, more than 700 people who were scalded by coffee burns made claims against the company. But McDonald's never lowered the temperature of its coffee.

Probably less than 10% are Dutch Brothers, maybe even 5%. We have a lot of local names with only a couple of locations, names I don’t even recognize. We really like The Human Bean - great drinks, friendly people, and low prices. They have a lot of outlets in the Northwest. Jitterz is moving in now.

100% guaranteed biden voter. I could never bring myself to do a lawsuit like this, I would feel shame with myself.

We had a guy in my unit way back right after the McDonald's coffee lawsuit who bought a coffe from the Burger King on base and managed to spill it in his lap on the way in to work. He blamed himself, he had an old vehicle with no cup holders and a manual transmission. He was trying to steer and shift and spilled it. Did he sue? No, he cussed himself out, then actually came in and told everyone, earning himself a new nickname (Crotch), and we all laughed about it and went about our day.

Hot beverage suites are a dime a dozen. It’s like the people throwing themselves onto cars to claim injury.

>>McD case had third degreee burns and five-or-six-figure medical treatment.<<

Yeah. Yes, coffee burns. Spilled coffee on your legs burns. As in OUCH!

Spilled coffee on your legs the same as BBQ briquettes is negligence.

That is why I have not bothered to answer the folks pooh-poohing my post.
