The U.S. Census Bureau will not release one-year estimates for the 2020 American Communities Survey due to high coronavirus-related nonresponse rates leading to skewed data, according to a new report from USAFacts. The decision not to release survey estimates means missing out on crucial data such as health insurance changes, rent increases and eviction moratoriums' effectiveness are harder to pinpoint.
The ACS is a focused questionnaire provided to a sample of 3 million people that covers everything from housing situation to work hours to type of transportation and more. The annual survey provides data used by local, state and federal government agencies for a variety of different purposes, from housing and transportation programs to community health initiatives.
The survey is the Census Bureau's largest undertaking aside from the decennial census – and it's mandatory. Respondents can potentially be fined $5,000 for non-completion. The Census Bureau did not provide information on whether fines were levied last year, but the agency has indicated that it prefers to work cooperatively with reluctant respondents and gets greater participation that way.
Typically, the survey arrives by mail, and census workers will follow up in person. The Census Bureau's press release states that low response rates are becoming more common but that the coronavirus pandemic significantly limited options for following up. That led to a third of all surveys going unanswered, causing a significant bias in ACS data collection, as low-income households, households with lower educational attainment and people who are less likely to be homeowners were all seriously underrepresented in the final count.

I don’t remember getting a census form last year.
Hopefully The U.S. Census Bureau is not corrupt like a bunch of government agencies and will tell the truth about what data they found, and not lie about the population numbers so the liberal blue states can keep their congressmen, and keep red states from gaining congressmen.
Those with 2nd homes aren’t likely to respond.
The census is there to determine population for the purpose of determining Congress redistricting.
Any other crap they try to put in the census is crapppola.
Sexual preference?
Salary?
Political affiliation or any other thing asked is crappola.
Do not answer and if they send some minion to ask, throw em the hell off your property.
Who trusts the government with their personal information? IMO, the less the federal government knows about the community I live in the better.
Fines if you don’t answer personal questions! WOW, Towel-eee-bon Joe probably loves this.
This isn’t the full census, just a small subset. And the canvassers can be persistent if you are selected to participate. Not only repeated direct visits, but also repeated calls. Call me cynical but I find it suspicious that only what would be embarrassing bad new responses seem to be left out here.
There is a long form that asks more detailed questions including financial information.
It is only given to a small percentage of the population.
Notice the word “mandatory”—we seem to be hearing it a lot lately in this supposedly “free country”.
CWII is not going to be between states or regions.
It is going to be between a handful of elites and those who refuse to be slaves to them.
Now I understand why the stupid canvasser kept coming to my home last year. No fewer than four visits and notices on my door. I refused to answer the door in the same way I refused to answer the census via form. I repeatedly threw forms, mails, letters threatening to fine me if I didn't respond right in the garbage. IDGAF about the census. Never have, never will. It's about the only way I have anymore to tell the government to shove it straight up their arse.
The flood of refugees from high tax Blue States to Red States ensures that the Red States will gain representatives, and the Deep State Bureaucrats will do ANYTHING to aid the Socialist Dems. Those in the Census Bureau are NO exception.
I did the long form in 2010. Even told the truth on some questions. It was a mistake. Had repeated visits and phone calls this go round. Refused it. It is not mandatory.
:)
Sending to homes with fake voters.
