Darryl Jones. For whatever weird reason they’ve never officially made him a Stone. I have no idea what went into that. But it’s why he doesn’t take the bow with the band. Of course not being officially a Stone has freed him up to work with others, like Ziggy Marley and Neil Young. So there’s that.

"However, he did play on the rest of Sticky Fingers."
Wrong again...the Let it Bleed album. Sheesh, I'm getting old. I used to know their songs and albums by heart, even their UK releases.

"I think he also had some kind of heart issue a few years ago that needed attention."
I think he had by-pass heart surgery.

Marty Robbins. Funny you should mention that. I was with my 23 year old son about a month ago. He actually has a Marty Robbins CD in his car. We played El Paso a couple times.
He also has MY Bob Marley and the Wailers CD, along with Fleetwood Mac(he thinks Lindsey Buckingham is amazing) and several other classic rock albums.
His whole grade in high school pretty much listened to classic rock.
About 7 years ago I go into his bedroom and he is listening to Meatloaf Bat out of Hell on his computer. He had just downloaded the album onto his laptop.
I told him that I bought that album when it came out on 8 TRACK.
A couple years ago, we cleaned out my mom’s house after she passed. I showed him my Panasonic stereo system with the built in 8 track player. Along with the Thrusters speakers.
Unfortunately, the eight track no longer works.
That stereo now sits on the bench in my garage. The speakers are mounted on the wall. :)

"Yeah, the Stones were uneven at best in concert."
Yes, most times except for their Bridges to Babylon live video. Even then Jagger is in his live mono-tone scream mode. Interestingly, Jagger's studio recordings have shown him to be able to actually sing, albeit with out much range.

Yet Keith Richards is still alive. Well, that's the rumor, but I don't belive it!

Is anyone here aware that Don Everly of The Everly Brothers died last Saturday the Aug.21st? No press at all for the great harmony brothers who wrote and recorded late 50's classics: "Bye Bye Love" "Cathy's Clown" "Wake Up a Little Susie" "All I Have to Do is Dream". It was the time of Richie Valens, Dion, Buddy Holly, Elvis, and others.
Brian Wilson said, "The Everly Brothers were a big influence on us and we learned a lot from their beautiful harmonies."

Good point about Jagger’s live singing. And the band isn’t very tight, usually.
Also to your point, try singing along with Wild Horses. In the opening line, “easy” is an F# above high C. That’s up there. It’s also amazingly delicate throughout. Maybe my favorite Stones song, along with Brown Sugar.

Makes sense if that was his motivation to not officially join. Sure he has been invited over the years, as was Ron Wood.

I read somewhere, a long time ago, that the Stones only looked upon Mick Taylor as a temporary, “fill-in” member.

I don’t know if it was a him decision or a Stones decision. One of those things nobody has bothered to explain. He’s just been their session and tour guy for 26 years, and apparently everybody is OK with it that way.

I believe that's true. They made him an official Stone somewhere during the Let It Bleed or Sticky Fingers sessions. I'm doing all my replies by memory as I had to correct 2 erroneous previous posts. Sure Wiki or other sites could verify.

I suppose it’s just too much money to cancel the tour.
