I am with out antenna for shortwave, any of you know what is going on in Cuba? Haiti? Venezuela?

the news is all covid all the time and now Afghanistan and its all smoke

I get nothing on radio Havana 5040 but that may be my lousy Grundig sattelit 750, my ten tec is in disarray

I know but deploying a 20 to 40m longwire is no longer in my capability

They have been recently jamming the 40 meter ham band to keep Cuban hams from contacting hams in the US.

Many years ago Cuba had a shortwave broadcaster on 9525khz.

Hams used to pester them by doing cw on 9525.7

That offset utilized the cuba station as a bfo and you could clearly hear a 700hz cw note on a cheap shortwave radio listening in AM mode....you could hear the cw all over the hemisphere :-)

as it is interference from led bulbs, compact fluorescent’s, switching ps’s on computers kills everything

I have a simple fix for your not being able to climb a tree: Hyper-Pet Tennis Ball Launcher

I used it to put my 40m antenna between trees next to my townhome. No one knows I'm a ham, they can't see the wire all the way up there and I'm back on the air.

Simply drill a hole through the ball, put a thin bolt through it with a washer and nut on the other end. Loop some heavy twine around the bolt under the washer before tightening. Leave @ 10 feet of twine and create a knot at the end to attach wire to.

Attach the wire by looping it through the knot several times.

Use the launcher and give it a good pull back, enough to launch the ball, twine and wire over the tree.

I'm thinking you can figure out the rest. :-)

Find a fit young person interested in short wave communications and offer instruction in exchange for assistance. Might find a new friend. But get a waiver signed in case he falls out of the tree!
