Pallets of cash left behind in Afghanistan

Posted on 08/23/2021 3:17:13 PM PDT by LukeL

A source just indicated that along with the billions of dollars of military equipment that has been abandoned in Afghanistan, we also left behind a bunch of hard currency. Back in WWII we issued speical currency in Hawaii and North Africa for the sole purpose of being able to cancel the currency if it fell into enemy hands. Today we could simply do the same as it would only entail an overstamp or different colored ink.

My source says the reason we were not using overstamps is because your source convinced higher ups it was not need - in order to facilitate the theft by your source.

When I was in Korea in the early 70s, we were required to turn in our Greenbacks for military payment certificates (MPC). Looked very much like monopoly money. If you drew cash on payday, it was in MPC. Supposedly, one could not use MPC off post but it was commonly accepted. About every six months, they would call an alert and everyone would have to swap their MPC for new MPC. Usually only the color of the bills would change. Those that paid attention knew when the swap would happen because the Koreans would stop taking MPC a day or two before the swap. The day before you left Korea, you could turn your MPC in for Greenbacks. They stopped this in 1974 IIRC.

Thank you. That was the first and only post which actually addressed the topic. We could easily have the very same type of system in place.

You know, Gateway Pundit would have a lot more credibility if they dropped the Pundit.

LOL

I actually find about half of what GP posts worth checking out. Some of it is even true.

In this case the issue isn't primarily GP, but the fact that the FR poster is relying on a READER COMMENT on a BLOG POST that reprinted GP.

Ridiculous.

Remember what we left in the Mid East? We need to wonder just who our decision makers work for

The cash was left on purpose. A furter grift by the Obamatrons now running Joe Bidens White Hut.

The weapons were left on purpose.

America is a White Supremacist nation colonial power that must be punished. Whether Joe knows it or
not. Thats what he is doing.

Critical RAce theory guides what is happening. And soon there will be a blood bath on the Streets of Kabul if we do not go out and get our American citizens using Special Ops like the Brits , French and Candians have done for their citizenry.

MAKE NOISE!

When I was in Korea in the early 70s, we were required to turn in our Greenbacks for military payment certificates (MPC).

Before that, there was the overprinted currency issued to Hawaii pre-WWII. That was in case the Japanese took them over, we could invalidate the currency. As a kid, I remember seeing a $10 bill like that and thought it was a commemorative and were doing it for each state.

“A source”? Pallets of Cash sounds like a fake story

Not at all. A part of "winning the hearts and minds" involved us just giving the locals a bunch of money. Paying off for info, or because their goat supposedly got shot by an "American", and so on.

Again. Foxnews and other media outlets not only reported it but also had pictures of stacks of $100 bills on pallets surrounded by the Taliban. Have you seen the list of 84 Billion is weapons we gave them. 208+ aircraft, 75,000 vehicles, not to mention all kinds of advanced weapons. Do you think we did this by accident? LOL

But they kept their ration control plates through the end of the 80’s. I ended my military career with the Seoul Olympics ending and then I was returned home.
