C.S. Lewis saw the direction things were heading back in 1958, when he warned of the rise of a scientocracy — a government driven by science that would offer salvation from danger and illness at the expense of personal freedom.
From The Magician's Twin:
Mr. Lewis, you pretty well nailed it.

Robert A. Heinlein also saw it coming in his 1959 book, “Starship Troopers.”
Part of President Eisenhower’s Farewell Address, January 1961
“Yet in holding scientific discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.”
This passage once again shows his prescience of what had been Prophesized.
Very big fan of Lewis. Fifteen years earlier he wrote “The Abolition of Man” in anticipation of the dehumanization that a technocratic state may bring.

"A dream? Then-then-am I not really here, Sir?"
"No, Son," said he kindly, taking my hand in his. "It is not so good as that. The bitter drink of death is still before you. Ye are only dreaming. And if ye come to tell of what ye have seen, make it plain that it was but a dream. See ye make it very plain. Give no poor fool the pretext to think ye are claiming knowledge of what no mortal knows. I'll have no Sweden- borgsand no Vale Owens among my children."
"God forbid, Sir," said I, trying to look very wise.
"He has forbidden it. That's what I'm telling ye." As he said this he looked more Scotch than ever.

Interesting fact: CS Lewis, Aldous Huxley, and JFK died on the same day.
Would’ve been more accurate if John Lennon had sung “Give paying extortion to your adversaries a chance.”
Over me head I’m afraid
Tolkien’s opus is a grand parable on much of what Lewis postulated.
Of course not, true prophets write from the heart and we Christians can discern whether it's truthful or reject it as error.
My point being is that C.S. Lewis' writings were indeed God inspired, (whether he knew it or not), and that is the reason they endure today among the faithful.
He also warned about a growing Military Industrial Complex
He addressed both in the same speech.
Lewis’ novel _That Hideous Strength_ carries out the ideas of his article even further. It’s a tremendous book. It’s closer to fantasy than science fiction. But he gets unfeeling/unthinking bureaucracy down cold and you’ll see character archtypes of The Woke without too much trouble.
Thanks for that.
