Dollar General is not the same kind of store as a store that sells everything for $1.

It wasn’t there an article here yesterday that dollar stores were a scam and the markup and the margins are much higher at dollar stores than regular supermarkets?

” With prices creeping up, more Americans are turning to dollar stores which, are increasingly becoming $1.99 and $2.99 stores...”

A simple hedonic adjustment. There is no inflation.

Can’t we take big plastic garbage bags and go to regular stores and high end luxury ones and walk out with everything free as the persons of color do? No suspects.

Oh yeah, I forgot. We’re the ones who work at honest occupations, pay taxes and act responsibly. And the reason for that is, uh, the reason is....

Note: My dear wife has many times said “At least you stayed out of prison.” That is true.

The Government says there is no inflation. Oh wait. They don’t include food or energy to make it look better.

Blaming the Dollar stores for increasing “food deserts” is a staple for liberal rags.

just remember sometimes the values at the dollar stores arent as good as you think

lots of times staples may be priced lower, but they are smaller sizes, so you aren’t getting a normal size dishwashing soap for a better price, for example

Dollar General, Family Dollar are in one class and Dollar stores are in a lower class.. I would be scared of eating anything from Dollar stores as from what I have observed the canned goods and packaged foods are from either overseas or no name brand, never heard of types. The Dollar General, Family Dollar types sell purposely downsize the items, less bang for the buck compared to Wal Mart or Kroger’s..

Slightly different topic: Went to the grocery store to get some turkey breast for smoking some jerky. It was 4.39 a lb. It was half that, last year.

Not a great selection but I stock up on liquid dish detergent, reading glasses, makeup, etc. I splurged and bought some of their ice cream last week. Not bad! I love the Family Dollar Store - not all 1.00 but great selection for cheap stuff.

The dollar stores that I’ve visited are good for maybe books. Food? Looks like a higher price.

Upland 99cent store still has 99cent items, but many are now more than that.

There are some very good buys that include fruits and vegetables. You just have to be careful because they may be closing in on expiration date.

Someone with a very low budget can actually survive fairly well buying the food there.

I’m wondering if there isn’t more damage done to the economy than we yet realize?

I am n the monument inscription business. Good one to be in during Covid, right? Well, y eah and no. The lockdown cost me 12000.00 in billing but I never really stopped working. Afterwards the people who’d been hiding under their beds came out and started ordering inscriptions to the extant that we were buried under orders. Then suddenly a funny thing happened: 3M, the company that makes the template material we use said that they couldn’t get people to work the shifts. Lately the word has been that I hey can’t get ahold of the ‘raw material’. They are saying April befor they are up and running. I have maybe 2 months wort before I’m shite out of luck.

If this is just one little area of one little industry- no biggie. But if this is happening in other industries…
