Why the fridge?
_______________________________________________________

We use it for our horses.
Refrigerate after opening. A tube is more than a smaller horse needs.
It will keep in fridge.

That’s because I was replying to post 77, https://freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3987190/posts?page=77#77

They bought a kit that included Ivermectin and Doxycyline, along with Zinc.

“I’m thinking this is a doctor question, rather than chat.

All I could say is that its probably not the amount you give to a horse.”

It is the same dose 0.2mg/kg or 0.091 mg/Lb. For a 250 pound man the dose would be 250 x .0.091 = 22.75 mg. On the horse dewormer scale that’s either 4 or 5 notches. 5 notches will give you 4.48mg/notch x 5 = 22.4 mg.

If you are treating a 250 pound horse its the same calculation.

“Why are you seeking medical advice from anonymous non-medical members? Why aren’t you consulting a doctor?”

Tell your doctor you want a prescription for Ivermectin or Hydroxycloroquine. Good luck. I have been to 8 doctors and none would prescribe. “it not approved by FDA as a treatment for COVID-19.” If you can find a doctor who will proscribe then your pharmacist will not fill the script.

Most doctors do not know how to treat COVID-19

If it wasn’t so sad, it would be funny.

Whats sad is the number of pro vaxxers that infect FreeRepublic.

Locate a doctor who prescribes Ivermectin to treat COVID-19 infections and follow the prescription.

Good luck finding that doctor Geek. That is the problem.

“This syringe contains sufficient paste to treat one 1250 lb horse at the recommended dose rate of 91 mcg ivermectin per lb (200 mcg/kg) body weight.” That is from the information sheet on the horse paste product. If my math is right - check it! - 91 mcg times 1250 gives 113,750 mcg or 114 mg/tube.

The literature uses 12 mg/day for 5 days. That would be just over 1/10th of a tube, so a standard dose for a 130 lb horse! A 170 lb man taking it at the standard rate for a horse would get 15.5 mg dose instead of 12....probably an insignificant difference (200.5 mcg/kg versus 200? Check my math please.). A dose based on weight makes more sense to me.

“A study was carried out in southeastern Gabon to evaluate the tolerance and efficacy of single high doses of ivermectin in 31 Loa loa-infected subjects with low-to-moderate parasitemia (7-7,700 microfilaria/ml). The first group of 16 subjects received 300 micrograms/kg of ivermectin and, seven days later, a second group of 15 received 400 micrograms/kg. Complete clinical and biological monitoring was carried out during the first 10 days post-treatment and again after one and three months. All subjects continued with their usual activities during the study. The clinical tolerance of treatment was very good, and except in one case, only mild adverse reactions were observed, with pruritus being the most common symptom. There were no significant changes in blood or urine function test results or in hematologic results, except for a pronounced eosinophil reaction. The 400 micrograms/kg dose of ivermectin equaled or surpassed in tolerance that of 300 micrograms/kg dose.”

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8447521/

“A double blind, randomised, placebo controlled clinical trial was conducted to assess the safety and tolerability of oral subacute repeat doses of up to 1.2 mg/kg bw and an acute dose of 2.0 mg/kg bw in 68 healthy adult male and female human subjects as a treatment for headlice. No treatment related signs of toxicity were observed...”

Looks like it has been tested on humans at rates twice of what a standard horse paste tube (ADJUSTED FOR HUMAN WEIGHT) gives. 1250 lbs/tube, adjust for bodyweight.

PS: I’d use a doctor recommended treatment instead IF GIVEN. But lots of folks are sent home and told to wait to see if it gets worse. In that case....I plan to take some apple flavored paste. At worst, it should make sure I don’t have tapeworms. And BTW, I know a woman on a ranch who takes it once a year this way because she’s around so much....stuff....while working with the livestock. Says she’s never had a problem.

“Why aren’t you consulting a doctor?”

Speaking just for myself, I no longer trust doctors automatically. I wouldn’t trust the arrogant b*st*rd the VA has assigned to me if he told me to take aspirin for a headache.

That's what the math from Dr Lee Merritt that I used came up with and I agreed with and math comes natural to me. For me it works out pretty neat because I weigh 125 lbs aka 10% or 1/10 of the tube for a 1250 lb horse. Prophylactic dose would be 125 foal dose so that's pound per pound but treatment dose for me would be 250 lbs of horse. Double the dose for deworming a horse. Either way, nice markings on the tube for my 125 lbs or a 250 lb person.

‘05% Ivermectin (Our special blend)
One ml. contains 461 mcg. of ivermectin and food grade propylene glycol.’

YMMV. Different concentration from the horsey stuff. You’ll have to adjust the math for dosage. Comes with a syringe to measure for oral dosing. A tad bitter.

Are you really that naive? Try inserting ‘husband’ where you see horse.

I guess that’s just a farmer thing. Unopened tube probably doesn’t matter where you keep it. Partial tube goes in the fridge. Possibly unnecessary, but that’s how I’ve always done it.
