Woah! Amphetamines is what was prescribed back in the 60s and early 70's for weight loss. Crazy addictive stuff and not to mention it doesn't address the person's actual diet.
Typical for back then as that was the day when the sugar companies were pitching the idea that a "calorie is a calorie"; so in theory it didn't matter if you at 500 calories worth of salad or ice cream. They were also pitching the idea of using sugar to help control your "appestat".
