I have two kids in high school. As parents my wife and I were given the option to OPT OUT of my kids having to wear masks at school.
Two weeks into the school year they applied a mask mandate. Getting a feel from my kids how their other classmates are taking it. 70/30 Against masks vs for masks.
Governor Desantis.....pinging Governor Desantis...please pick up the white courtesy phone..
The real problem: Parents still have their kids in publik skrewls.
Wish I had better options.
The silver spoon missed my ass by a good yard.
If they’re in high school, they can do online programs through a K12 or other established homeschooling programs. They can dual enroll at a local community college or maybe even USF at a discounted rate. Or they can resist. Have them get together with some other students. Probably 10-15 would be enough to get the message out. Stage a walkout or a sit in. Steal the protest plans of the left. Have a giant mask burning in front of, but not on school property.
The silver spoon missed me too but we managed to home school.
We is the important word I am assuming you have a wife.
I worked from home nights and weekends hubs did normal job. It was very hard. But very rewarding.
I don’t know your personal situation. Usually when there is a will there is a way. Maybe not in your case.
Trust me the vast majority of homeschoolers I know were not in the silver spoon club. I have never owned property. Our vacations were to relatives homes. We usually had one difficult car. Etc.
and when the school threatens putting in on their “permanent record” just laugh..
that crap gets sealed up and no one sees it anyway.
it’s time for a revolt.
this includes parents. Doing the right thing isn’t easy.
that’s why it’s the right thing.
I know lots of parents who are home/private/parochial schooling.
None are upper class.
The public skrewl systems have the working poor by the short hairs, but even they have some options if they band together.
My youngest is a senior at Plant HS. He is not happy.
We took some grandchildren to Peter Piper Pizza early yesterday evening. At first, there was a small smattering of customers, all wearing masks and accusatory glares. They were apparently early birds, there at that time to avoid the great unmasked.
They were quick to eat and run, and as they filtered out, a horde of teachers, parents, and elementary students arrived, celebrating Back to School. They were by-and-large maskless.
This was in Gilbert, Arizona.
Our school isn’t having the option to do virtual schooling. Have all schools done away with that?
Palm Beach County did the same
Isn’t it time to take your children out of public school?
Homeschool them or put them in a private school that will really teach the basics — including religion.
“and when the school threatens putting in on their “permanent record” just laugh.”
laugh is right ... heck i was threatened with the “permanent record” BS as early as elementary school!
There are programs you sign up for. Tell the school your homeschooling, disenroll the kids, and go on your way. SOme states ill pay for the programs. I know K12 gets state money from those states that do it. Otherwise, I can’t its about $2,000 a year. I haven’t used the program, but Bill Bennett was involved and they’ve been around for 20 years.
