Jeremy Clarkson's farm shop sparks traffic concerns as visitors flock to Chipping Norton

Queues snake round a field deep in the Oxfordshire countryside. From the number of visitors, you would be forgiven for thinking this is Stonehenge or another international tourist attraction. In fact, the two-and-a-half-hour wait is to enter a tiny farm shop owned by TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson.

The store comprises a small stone barn, with an attached sheltered area to eat snacks from the cafe.

Many journey for hours to get to the store the shop - sometimes planning whole holidays around their visit to Diddly Squat.

It's the celebrity pull of Clarkson himself - rather than the £12.50 honey - that's the appeal.

"We saw it on TV obviously and love Jeremy Clarkson so I thought we'd head over and have a look, took the dog with us," recount two young men from Peterborough. "Everything was as expected, very nice," they add, "it was quite pricey."

"We wouldn't have come if he hadn't put it on the map," explained some girls from Yorkshire who organised a trip to the Cotswolds in order to go to the store.

"What we realised is that it appeals to all the farmers around the world because they go through exactly the same thing, whether they're in Oxfordshire, or England, or Scotland, or Australia, or America; it's exactly the same situation."

Lisa Logan, Jeremy Clarkson's partner

I’d hope the snow combine would be around there.

LUVED the show. I’ve always opined that Jezza, Hamster, or Capt Slow could film themselves cleaning under their couch cushions and it would be a hit.

The Farm Show was beyond fantastic. I’d recommend it to anyone.

"...could film themselves cleaning under their couch cushions and it would be a hit."

They kind of already did that. They all bought used cars, and took them to a forensics lab to have the interiors inspected. Hammond's had nose pickings in it, and Jeremy's had cocaine and "sex juice" in his. And yes, the show was a riot.

Come for the fresh milk and eggs.

Stay for the outrageous things Jeremy Clarkson is always saying.

Oh gosh that’s right! :D

And it WAS better entertainment than most anything else on TV!

My grandkids watched a few episodes with me a few weeks ago. The Robin Rocket; Caravaning; something else... They laughed and liked it a lot.

I think their Road Trip specials will be great geopolitical teaching tools.

It appears to be on that awful overlord Amazon.

That better be a large bottle of honey for $17 with a 2 1/2 hours of standing in line. Hope the crowds understand he has to bring in suppliers from elsewhere so it isn’t his own honey.

I thought you had to be all masked up and social distancing in England?

I have never heard of the guy and I’m not sure what the show is, but I had a friend who lived in Chipping Norton back in the late 80s. He had a fairly long commute to RAF Upper Heyford, but he liked being away from the base.

It was a bigger town that had kept its small-town feel (unlike Bicester and most of Banbury, which felt like chunks of urban sprawl picked up from the outskirts of London and moved 50 miles northwest.)

Clarkson was able to show the world all the pitfalls that befall farmers everywhere--both from nature and from stupid micromanaging governments. And yes, the show was mostly funny. One thing that wasn't funny, for me, was cramming all his lambs into the truck to go to slaughter. I don't eat any red meat, so it made me sad to watch that.
