Yeah. Look, I guess it might be a little self righteous on my part, and I am not thin. But I weight myself EVERY day. I watch where I tip the scale, and I moderate my calorie intake accordingly. I go to the store and practically all you see is fat people. Poor fat people. Poor fat people who are so fat that they need to ride around on carts to load up on more fat inducing food. We have the fattest poor people in history, and it is MY fault that I am ‘fataphobic’?
Fat people aren't pretty, don't tell me otherwise. Has there every been a great country peopled predominantly by the obese? Learn restraint. Use you EBT for healthy foods. Slim down. And shut the hell up you fat f@#k.

What are the factors causing higher body weights compared to 60-70 years ago?

I see several...

* high-calorie, high-carb fast-food diets
* massive reduction in use of tobacco (an appetite suppressant and metabolism-affecting stimulant)
* less exercise, less walking, more driving, more sedentary lifestyles

What hurts is watching it play out in Việt Nam. 20 years ago when it was a very poor country government bureaucrats were identifiable from a distance by their roundness. Now with the country much more prosperous the sidewalks of the cities look more like our own and one sees fat children now.
