People in France will now need to show a health pass to enjoy usually routine activities such as sipping a coffee in a café or traveling on an intercity train, in a plan championed by President Emmanuel Macron to squeeze COVID-19 infections and encourage vaccination.

The government is pressing ahead with the extension of an already-existing health pass for venues including cafés, restaurants and intercity travel, despite four weekends of angry protests that saw almost a quarter of a million rally nationwide on Saturday.

Macron, who has expressed exasperation with the protests, hopes that the plan will help ramp up vaccinations and quell the fourth wave of coronavirus in France in a strategy similar to that of EU neighbors such as Italy and Germany.

The health pass is generated in a QR code either by a full course of vaccinations, a recent negative virus test or a recovery from COVID-19. The government expects a one-week grace period for consumers and businesses to get used to the new rules. …

Marching in the streets not cutting it. You have to have media support for your cause for that to work.

Don’t they do the setting things on fire there? Or do we go old school revolutionary and get out the guillotines and heads on pikes?

Here’s a wonderful advertisement for mass transit.

Every mass transit I’ve ridden on in the US was filthy and crowded with people I was warry of.

A friend, a pretty big man, lost is car and thought he’d just use mass transit in Tallahassee as it was feasible from where he lived. (He was paying off bills for his wife’s cancer treatment.) He was assaulted several times by black women who just seemed outraged that this white man in a suit was riding “their” bus. He said he hated every minute of it and couldn’t wait to get another car. (This was during the Obama years when race relations seemed to be at an all time bottom. They improved a lot during Trump’s presidency. I have no idea where they are now as I’ve moved and the blacks in my rural area are just fine...but there’s no mass transit as there’s no mass.)

I’m glad my grandfather who went ashore during the first wave on Omaha isn’t around to hear of this, it’d sicken him.

I’ve been on clean mass transit in the US, but usually that was when new vehicles were put into service.

“I’ve been on clean mass transit in the US, but usually that was when new vehicles were put into service.”

I’ve only used it in NY and Detroit.

But the way the Left touts mass transit, you’d think its advocates use it. I was at a meeting in Tallahassee where the politicians were trying to force its use by closing down the east/west routes. Someone in the meeting pointed out that none of the people at the speaker’s table used the busses. He read off their addresses and all of them were in the far north of town, the expensive neighborhoods where the busses don’t run. The mayor at the time said, “Yeah, well we don’t need the busses.” Then you have all those advocates for green energy touting it and they regularly fly their private jets. (Okay for thee but not for me.)

This country used to have quite an extensive “mass transit” system, when it was under private ownership. Then the government(s) taxed and regulated it out of the hands of the private sector, took it over and made a living hell out of it.
