In a rural stretch of northeastern Florida where barely half the people have gotten a coronavirus shot, Roger West had no problem telling others he was “adamantly anti-vaccination.”
The co-owner of the Westside Journal weekly newspaper used his voice as a columnist to widely share his doubts about the vaccine and his mistrust of the health experts in the U.S. who have been urging everyone to get it.
“I do not trust the Federal Government,” West wrote recently. “I do not trust Dr. Fauci, I do not trust the medical profession, nor the pharmaceutical giants.”
But something happened to change his mind: Two of West’s close friends became ill with the virus, and a third died. Rattled and stressed, he prayed for guidance. Then, when his mother and another relative both urged him to get vaccinated, he took it as a sign from God. West drove to the Winn Dixie supermarket and rolled up his sleeve for the first of two injections of the Moderna vaccine.

Our greatest weapon against the coronavirus is Vitamin D: Board-certified pathologist (3.29.21, probably no lucrative government contracts to be made from making vitamin D3 imo.)

Florida has a high vaccination rate. Those like me who have doubts (backed by science) about the vaccines’ overall safety in context of our personal risk choose not to be vaccinated. I don’t consider me a vaccine skeptic. I consider myself rightly cautious.
I reconsider the notavax every day.
So far my decision remains that the disease isn’t that dangerous, the notavax is experimental, and the hysteria about the whole thing sets off my alarm bells, so I will take my chances as part of the control group and hope that HCQ and Ivermectin can help me if I fall ill.

So the newspaper is based in Callahan, FL. There’s a Winn Dixie in Callahan, but according to the Winn Dixke website the Callahan store doesn’t offer the vax. I guess he could have driven elsewhere....
