Washington, D.C. — This morning, U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL-01) released the following statement on the recent events in Afghanistan:
“Just as President Biden has failed our country on COVID, at the border and economically – he has failed in Afghanistan. Since he was on vacation, I don’t know if he even noticed. We did.
The decision to withdraw was correct. I made the full case here. The strategy and tactics, horrific and incompetent.
The fundamental error was ever believing that the Afghan ‘government’ and ‘military’ would ever fight for or win anything. They fled the country with whatever they could steal at the first whiff of the Taliban. It wasn’t exactly Valley Forge, Concord or Lexington. They were thugs and thieves, not patriots.
Because the Biden Administration believed in the legitimacy of an illegitimate Afghan Government, the right precautions were not taken to ensure that military equipment, paid for by the U.S. Taxpayer, did not fall into the hands of the Taliban or Iran. Sadly, that’s exactly what happened. In this interview a Taliban spokesperson boasts that the Afghan forces that we paid for and died for were, in many cases, join the Taliban and handing over US equipment.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and occasional Critical Race Theorist Gen. Mark Milley was made a fool. Days ago he was crowing about the additional work the U.S. would be doing in Afghanistan to protect the airport and embassy. More funding and support for the Afghan Security Forces was his recommendation. What a joke? He should be fired by President Biden today.
Twenty years toiling in Afghanistan has been a mistaken exercise in American nation building. We should learn this lesson. We should cherish and love our country enough to appreciate that the Cheney-istas cannot replicate it in Central Asian caves with any amount of American treasure or blood
I will be leading the fight in Congress to put America First in all we do. We must build the strongest military in the world – capable of winning any battle and vanquishing any foe. We must commit to use it sparingly, only when in the direct national interest of our countrymen, not to settle disputes with barbaric tribes oceans away,” said Rep. Matt Gaetz.
President Bush and VP Cheney are obvious idiots, and they love Biden over Trump.
Yeah, they are idiots.
Correcto Mundo!
Yup.
Court Martial for Treason.
This is what a homosexual woke military achieves. Defeat.
If only we taught Critical Race Theory to the Afgans, things would be much better today.
Mark Steyn calls the General “ Thoroughly Modern Milley “.
A more apt condemnation is hardly imaginable.
Big Time!
If only our Air Force and Army generals could challenge the Taliban to a beauty contest.
MILLEY is a HORRIBLE PERSON!! I wish he was in Kabul!
Milley should employ the honorable Japanese method of resignation.
If only it was as simple as getting rid of Milley.
It’s a HUGE problem.
To win in Afghanistan, we should have brought in Divisions of Soldiers and moved all of the inhabitants around. We should have been brutal to our enemies and that includes sympathizers.
The old ladies in the US would have screamed.
We tried to win on the cheap and we lost.
This was a Special Forces and Air Force war, and it didn’t work out.
Why would it be wrong to pick our military leaders with an IQ test?
Look at what we have.
Badge getters and cross country runners and people who look good in a uniform.
And they just got beat by a bunch of fat guys who never jumped out of an airplane.
We have, or had the strongest and most efficient military this planet has ever seen, until Milley and crew decided being Woke was more important than fighting to secure our country. Our problem is the politicians that are more concerned that our enemies would not like them, so they wouldn't let our forces use their strengths to win wars; Johnson held our forces back in Viet Nam, Clinton admitted we could have taken out Bin Laden during his term, Powell/Bush stopped Schwartzenegger from taking out Hussein, and Bush/Obama tried to use our military as nation builders in Iraq and Afghanistan instead of the destructive force it was designed to be.
All these 'leaders' did was try to drive a square peg into a round hole. As a result, our rank and file military forces will again be collared with the responsibility for losing a war that rightfully should be laid at the feet of the politicians; unfortunately, they will escape mostly unscathed, while our military will forever suffer the stench of another defeat.
Out of a cannon.
“Cheney-istas”, That’s what they are: advocates of perpetual war.
What difference would it mean. He is just parroting the boss.
The General should be dismissed immediately.....
Adm Jeremy Boorda knew what was required.
