The RAF pilot who won a cancer claim due to the type of rescue helicopter also flown by Prince William had served for 15 years. William served for three years.
William's schedule may not have been as heavy as a regular pilot's, given his frequent breaks to do events with the Royal Family. So let's hope his immune system is in better shape, that his exposure was less, and that the stricken pilot recovers.
