The Myth of Masks
me | 8/11/2021 | me

Someone show me a peer reviewed study that proves any mask, other than a N95 respirator, is effective against any virus.

I personally doubt the effectiveness of surgical and cloth masks because, despite my best efforts, my glasses fog up when I wear them. Obviously, some of my breath is bypassing the filter.

Unfortunately, the people making national policy couldn't fog a mirror, w/o a mask.

Dr. Frauduce of the Inter-galactic Disease Control Board has recommended that all future masks for civilians be composed of two pieces of cloth woven to one thousand threads per inch over a 10 mil thick plastic sheet that will cover one’s nose, mouth, and chin. This is to be secured by elastic cords behind a persons ears and have the edges sealed to one’s face with a permanent glue. The 10 mil plastic sheet will stop all germs from penetrating through the mask and thus is the ultimate protection for adults and children of all ages. (Please note, for now this is merely my sarcasm, but the Dems will probably make it for real in the near future.)

Look up Brownian motion.

Maybe you will understand after you read it

It’s physics.

Of course, if you have a gap then Covid can side step.

Again, you are trying to reduce the viral load...not totally eradicate it. No one is going to walk around in a biohazard suit to the grocery store...well a few have but probably as some stunt.

Even N95s don't provide complete protection...

Do N95 respirators provide 95% protection level against airborne viruses, and how adequate are surgical masks?

And masks are fomites.

Not that we eat out anymore, but when we did I was always more worried about hepatitis or noro than any respiratory bug.

I’ve been hearing horror stories of employees in restaurants who wear the same mask into the bathroom and out again.

EUW.

I do believe masks can cause problems. I would not want to wear them all day.

I change out my masks at every store.

If I had to work in a public space I would probably get the vaccine even though no doctor will say it is safe for me.

Covid is still a crap shoot that Drs still don’t treat very well. I feel a lot of sadness over what that poster here went through before she died from it.

And it can happen to anyone.

“masks are going to capture particles. You are trying to reduce the viral load.”

The Border Patrol agents are going to capture alien invaders.

We are trying to reduce the alien load.

As time passes, ever more aliens get past the Border Patrol agents.

Surgical grade masks may work well for elderly folks snapping up groceries in 15 minutes each week.

For children attending school 190 days a year for six to seven hours masks are not going to be a game changer.

Yup...I’m sure those in Wuhan that created this virus had the best of the best protection. Oh...and with OUR tax money!

When you have that phony bastard fauci on your side almost everything is available to you.

Kids are going to have all kinds of cross contamination.

The reality is that this disease is going to have to sweep through the population several times with all kinds of variations.

Vaxxed or not....you need a plan on how to deal with it.

For starters, those that are eligible for the infusion need to have a plan on how you are going to get it because your window to get it is very small. As one poster here said yesterday..she ran into all kinds of roadblocks and barely got it in time.

I’ve been hearing horror stories of employees in restaurants who wear the same mask into the bathroom and out again.

And I’ve seen diners put the nasty things on the table next to them...and next to their food.

And who knows when the last time the mask was properly laundered, or in the case of the disposable ones, replaced?

Masks are gross.

Masks are little different than the asifidity bags worn to ward off the Spanish Flu in 1918 or magic amulets worn to ward off the plague.

Brownian motion means masks are going to capture particles. You are trying to reduce the viral load.

Proper hygiene and a healthy immune system will protect you better than a cloth/paper mask. The surgical mask boxes literally used to have a warning that they didn't work against a virus. Don't know if the still do, or not.

Likely still do. Legal disclaimer.

If a person standing in front of me has Covid and shouts or sing or sneezes in front of me I would much rather be wearing my mask and face shield than nothing at all.

It would be great if I had already had Covid and knew I could sail through. I would ditch everything..but I can’t. I can’t even get a Doctor to give me the go ahead for the Vax.

People have to roll the dice, make their decisions..and live or die with them.

In a sane world, if it made you feel better, making that decision for yourself is a great thing. Instead, we have politicians, with a whole host of busybody Karens in support, telling us what is "best" for us; ignoring the proven science behind it all.

Where is all of the testing for the 1000s of masks with cute sayings or crystal studs or other crap? Masks used in hazardous situations are regulated, yet the virus particle is the same size as a particle of asbestos.

yes, all the ones that have printing on them with logos, et.

I have no doubt there are long term lung issues that could develop from all of this.

I have to use a CPAP machine. They discovered a foam issue with one of the brands that causes lung and cancer issues. I dont have that one but I saw a video of the Resmed being taken apart and it also has foam. just because Resmed says it is safe doesn’t really make it so.

For anyone looking at info on vaccines...I saw this today. No idea if it has any merit

‘We Made a Big Mistake’ — COVID Vaccine Spike Protein Travels From Injection Site, Can Cause Organ Damage
Research obtained by a group of scientists shows the COVID vaccine spike protein can travel from the injection site and accumulate in organs and tissues including the spleen, bone marrow, the liver, adrenal glands and in “quite high concentrations” in the ovaries.

THE N95 is a DUST mask. It filters dust Particles to 0.003 micron..IIRC. The N100 does a little better, BUT they are NOT ANY GOOD for filtering a VIRUS. PLUS the style of mask they are LEAVES your eyes open ANYTHING. A full face mask is the only route that does better. BUT It has to have VIRAL filters in place. DUST filters are useless one them.🤔 The VIRUS is 100 times or more smaller that the filters threads.

They will have to ban facial hair, as any mask will leak if it touches facial hair at any point during its use.

Yep! But of course shaving is against canon for some religions, so there would be accommodations made everywhere.
