Carry at all times. Period.
“What was with the car that was parking watching all this?
If you are a guy get the hell out and protect her! If a gal, run his butt down!”
I couldn’t tell but I would venture to guess that the driver of the car was...how can I put this...one of them. Did you see the people the reporter interviewed expressing surprise and outrage? Yeah, their children and grandchildren are the perpetrators.
If Obama had a son that wasn’t at his father’s super spreader birthday party...
Situational awareness. Blowing through Kansas, I wound up pulling into a gas station in St. Louis. In seconds, I noticed all of the beater cars and the hood types milling around the station. There is no way I was going to stop and open a car door in that gas station. Absolutely no friggin way I was going to be the only white guy in the parking lot, hopping out of a nice late model muscle car. I would have had a huge target on my back.
99% odds nothing would have happened, but why risk it? East St. Louis was even worse.
I figured I had enough gas to head another 15 miles down the road, and in about 12 miles I hit a safe, beautiful suburban shopping center in Illinois.
There is no substitute for maintaining situation awareness and then following your instincts.
car jacking must be racist...I notice a definite pattern
In my youth, Azalea Road was a nice area.
You know want happened.
White Flight.
I have one of these in my pocket and one of these with a 30 round clip on the seat next to me under a towel everywhere I go.
Isn’t Alabama a concealed carry state? Good grief. Our society has broken down. It’s time for every law abiding person to arm themselves. Cops are not going to protect you.
>>Note to self…carry at all times when in Amish country<<
...and always be aware of your surroundings. This guy was orbiting in the parking lot. That ol gal should have had a firearm and when Mr. Amish guy began approaching, she should have began taking a defensive stance and hand on her pistol...telling him to stop!
We moved to western suburbs of St. Louis in the summer of 1968. We were warned immediately DO NOT GO TO EAST ST. LOUIS.

There’s no doubt Mobile has changed. In my comments I mentioned pulling my gun 3 times; one of those was at Foreman Rd. and Airport, and one was Old Shell at Hillcrest (I used to live in that area before I moved to the country). Twenty years ago I would have never dreamed that would happen. I have an LCP, but decided it wasn’t enough fire power. I carry a Springfield XDs .45 now. Always.
>> DO NOT GO TO EAST ST. LOUIS.<<
I could have given that advice back in 1957 when I was stationed at Scott AFB in Belleville, Il.
