UN report says humans changing climate at ‘unprecedented’ rate

Alarming UN report blamed human activity for ‘unprecedented’ changes to the climate.

Humanity will experience more extreme weather in the coming years and it will suffer the consequences of rising sea levels and melting Arctic ice, scientists working from across the globe said in a crucial UN climate report.

The alarming report by a UN scientific panel, released on Monday, called changes to the climate “unprecedented”, added that it is “unequivocal” that humans are to blame, and laid out the case for drastic cuts to emissions in order to hold the global temperature to under the limits set by the 2015 Paris Agreement. ---Snip... “This report must sound a death knell for coal and fossil fuels, before they destroy our planet,” he said in a statement. “Countries should also end all new fossil fuel exploration and production and shift fossil fuel subsidies into renewable energy.” ---Snip For example, the last time the planet’s atmosphere was as warm as today, about 125,000 years ago, global sea levels were likely five to 10 metres (16 to 32 feet) higher – a level that would put many big coastal cities under water.

Three million years ago, when atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations matched today’s levels and temperatures were 2.5C (4.5F) to 4C (7.2F) higher, sea levels were up to 25 metres (82 feet) higher.

Well, useless UN, you had better get after China and India in a big way, hadn’t you? Go for it.

I guess they’d fallen off the front pages (thanks to covid) and wanted to be noticed again, so they come up with this?

Heck, even if you believe this nonsense, the world economies have obviously slowed in the past year, ergo less human activity to cause anything.

but but... traffic is down during the pandemic... the world was healing?

BS. This is just pushing for a one world communist totalitarian government. They smell the fear in the world and are running with it.

All those private jets flying to Martha’s Vineyard really spiked climate change.

So what if we are?

Humans have domain over the planet. Humans will adapt as they always have.

Why won’t the elites sell me their coastal properties for pennies on the dollar?

How many times can the same thing be unprecedented? If you’re a lefty as often as needed or as often as its works.

Last week in Virginia the average temperature was about fifteen degrees below normal. One of those days the high temperature was only 71. Unheard of for the first week of August.

Alarming UN report blamed human activity for ‘unprecedented’ changes to the climate.

But Obama bought a house within 150 yards of the sea, so he's not really very alarmed.

Highest reading on our outside thermometer so far this summer is 97F. This is in the DFW metroplex. The local weather reports now emphasize the “feels like” temperatures. It would be funny if it weren’t so disgraceful.

Unprecedented. I love that word. Ever since the leftist media started applying it to everything (and I do mean nearly every single thing) bammy did when he was occupying the Oval Office I've found it amusing.

Now "unprecedented" is just a big red flag of more fluff and false sensationalism.

Anything out of the UN on climate is total BS. It originates at the IPCC, which held a meeting a few years back and the “leader” was celebratory about the opportunity this gives them to end capitalism forever.
The UN on this issue is poison. Like CNN.
As to warming temps leading to worse weather, that contradicts any physics analysis. The earth has warmed before, like 300M years ago. From that we measured that poles warm MORE than equator. Temp difference is what drives storms originating at poles and sweeping toward equator. If temp diff is less, storms are less energetic.
