The Predators Among Us
American Thinker ^ | 8 Aug, 2021 | Abraham H. Miller

In our cities exists a culture of violence, and we ignore it at our peril, for we are all potential victims.

University of Chicago student Max Lewis was commuting to school on the Green Line Elevated Train when a bullet tore into his spine. A good Samaritan nurtured and consoled him until the paramedics came. An active and vibrant twenty-year-old, Lewis could only move his eyes when he awoke in his hospital bed. And with that, he communicated that he wanted the plug pulled. He did not want to live as a vegetable. He was ready to greet death.

Another life in a long list of lives tragically snuffed out by a “stray” bullet on Chicago’s southside. The police have no idea from where the bullet was fired. But was it a stray bullet? Did someone target the Elevated train the way people have targeted airline pilots with lasers, hoping to blind them on their approach and witness a plane crash?

As I read the demographics of victims of Chicago’s gang violence, I wonder, as have others, if there are predators out there hunting people for sport the way game hunters wantonly kill for sport. There are simply too many women and children, too many innocents, on the victims list.

I stumbled upon this notion when, during the George Floyd riots, carloads of young blacks descended on my exurban community and smashed their way into the upscale shopping mall. Armed police stood in place as the vandals looted the stores and unnecessarily damaged showcases and fixtures..

Having successfully looted the stores as police looked on, the vandals loaded up their vehicles and drove toward the freeway. As one car veered out of the shopping area, someone fired a random shot into a group of shoppers.

I think a big part is pack mentality of fatherless youths combined with the victimhood mentality of blaming others for their plight that is pushed by leftist politicians. The violence also enables the politicians to enact restrictions (usually on the law abiding) that they otherwise could not enact.

The parallel you made of the pack of thugs and the pack of politicians is appropriate, throwing their violent power around against the victims.

They are ‘feral’ youts. Akin to a pack of wild dogs or wolves. They need to be put down. It’s called predator control.

Human nature offers the potential for a range of innate predatory behaviors that are always at the ready in any society or large group when conditions are ripe. Nurture and moral teachings can do little about this. Some individuals are genetically predisposed to be criminals and predators, while the mass of ordinary people are capable of being raised to be predators or turning predator when conditions are ripe. Liberals tend to be willfully blind to such risks to public safety, even to the point of excusing or defending the predators who rob and main them. Mug a liberal and you sometimes get a new born conservative, but sometimes you get a wannabe criminal defense lawyer or social worker.

“I think a big part is pack mentality of fatherless youths”

Be nice to have intact families again in ‘diverse’ communities, but I have yet to hear of any political leader pushing the policies required for it (ending the welfare state and thereby telling the hoes that they either get with the fathers or their kids starve).

But there are things that can be done, as Rudy and Bloomberg showed in NYC when they cut the murder rate by 90% making that city safer than a bunch of US states.

I almost had to stop at “hunting people for sport the way game hunters wantonly kill for sport”.

The writer has lived a sheltered existence and is shocked when they see reality. Surprise!

Bingo!

Defund the cops...let criminals run the streets.

Woe is me! Can't live with the crime, can't fix it, out of control...Call in the federal government to clean up our streets.

And you will have a federal police force completely under the control of the people who allowed the criminals to run free.

The end result will be total control of your life by the worst people in Washington, DC.

That is the plan and we have so far failed to recognize how dangerous it is.

But the government won’t clean it up. It’s a tactic used successfully by African & Muslim warlords. They keep up the random violence because it puts the fear into every heart & household.

What the world needs ... is more sheepdogs.

One Vietnam veteran, an old retired colonel, once said this to me: “Most of the people in our society are sheep. They are kind, gentle, productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident.” This is true. Remember, the murder rate is six per 100,000 per year, and the aggravated assault rate is four per 1,000 per year. What this means is that the vast majority of Americans are not inclined to hurt one another

Some estimates say that two million Americans are victims of violent crimes every year, a tragic, staggering number, perhaps an all-time record rate of violent crime. But there are almost 300 million Americans, which means that the odds of being a victim of violent crime is considerably less than one in a hundred on any given year. Furthermore, since many violent crimes are committed by repeat offenders, the actual number of violent citizens is considerably less than two million.

Thus there is a paradox, and we must grasp both ends of the situation: We may well be in the most violent times in history, but violence is still remarkably rare. This is because most citizens are kind, decent people who are not capable of hurting each other, except by accident or under extreme provocation. They are sheep.

I mean nothing negative by calling them sheep. To me it is like the pretty, blue robin’s egg. Inside it is soft and gooey but someday it will grow into something wonderful. But the egg cannot survive without its hard blue shell. Police officers, soldiers and other warriors are like that shell, and someday the civilization they protect will grow into something wonderful. For now, though, they need warriors to protect them from the predators.

“Then there are the wolves,” the old war veteran said, “and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy.” Do you believe there are wolves out there who will feed on the flock without mercy? You better believe it. There are evil men in this world and they are capable of evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep. There is no safety in denial.

“Then there are sheepdogs,” he went on, “and I’m a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf.” Or, as a sign in one California law enforcement agency put it, “We intimidate those who intimidate others.”

If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen: a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath--a wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? Then you are a sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero’s path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed....

That was my point.

An excuse for a federal police force that will be a carbon copy of the DC cops on January 6....In effect a police force that operates on secret orders with no restrictions.

Not crime fighters, but political enforcers.

There is the black thug culture that celebrates it and the white guilt culture that excuses the violence. The terrorist groups and thugs are protected by the cops. If a chief of police and DA said, “we will not prosecute those who shoot looters or rioters damaging property” this would stop fast. BUT, no. We have to coddle the poor youths because a drug dealer got killed and racism or such.
