... a large-scale new study in the Journals of Gerontology provides a timely warning: Covid can look different in older patients.....
...when the researchers combed through the electronic health records of nearly 5,000 people, all over the age of 65, who were hospitalized for Covid at a dozen Northwell hospitals in March and April of 2020, they found that one-third had arrived with other symptoms, unexpected ones.
The team, searching through records using language software, found that about one-quarter of older patients reported a functional decline. “This was falls, fatigue, weakness, difficulty walking or getting out of bed,” Dr. Marziliano said...
...The rate of atypical symptoms rose significantly with age, affecting about 31 percent of those aged 65 to 74, but more than 44 percent of those over 85. These symptoms occurred more commonly in women, in Black patients (but not in Hispanics) and in those who had other chronic diseases, particularly diabetes or dementia...

For ‘Fake-Views Falsie’ it manifests itself by his not sticking to one opinion longer than a sleep cycle
I was watching the flu deaths at the time covid hit, and suddenly about 18 months or so ago they stopped being reported. So the good news is that covid cured the flu... ;^)
I don’t read the NY Times, nor do I gave their views any credence. It is a propaganda sheet. And has been for a long time.
These “atypical” COVID cases sound tome more like other problems “with COVID”. How does one tell the difference?
More dangerous than covid is pneumonia. Of course though the CDC and media labels these deaths covid.
when the researchers combed through the electronic health records
That doesn’t faze anyone?
It does me.
I don’t think covid cured the flu, It’s there’s still, flu A and B circulating. But lockdowns and not working and socializing had an effect (along with zero chinese tourists). Covid went from a 1 to 2 infections to a 1 to 5 infections while flu stayed at 1 to 1. So even with reduced contact, covid would spread faster than flu.

sorry, gave the wrong link, here the flu one:

NYT or no, the red meat is a study published in The Journals of Gerontology, which I linked. So you don’t even have to go to the NYT at all. I know, I’m nice. You’re welcome.
Coinciding with the fact that the PCR used to determine if one has COVID cannot differentiate between Covid-19 and the flu. Hence the CDC this past month has issued a statement to people applying this test to stop and use an actual reliable method for testing.
Sounds like getting old to me.
Thank goodness—I need a jab of the latest fear porn!
The researchers used metadata only—your privacy is absolutely safe....
unless they hit the wrong key....!
Actually, according to the numbers, covid spread wildly while flu was halted! (Mortality - The PIC mortality rate is the rate of deaths attributed to pneumonia, influenza, or COVID-19. This year, the majority of PIC deaths were due to COVID-19. 646 deaths were attributed to the flu.) If masking, distancing, and lockdowns halted the seasonal flu why didn't the same happen for covid?
Cancel culture censored the flu—easy peasy.
So there we have it, Natural Aging and associated deterioration of health is caused by Covid. Who knew?
Sounds more like they got the shot.
