WASHINGTON, Tuesday Aug. 6.
The Senate, last night and this morning, completed the confirmation of the military appointments submitted by the President. The Major and Brigadier Generals all went through, as did also Lieutenant-Colonel EMORY.
The nomination of Mr. WOODS as Commissioner of Public Buildings, was not acted on. The Committee reported favorably, but the report was referred back by a vote of the Senate, and was not again again taken up. This vacates the office, though the President may, in his discretion, continue to devolve its duties upon Mr. WOODS.
The entire list of appointments for new regiments, as published about a month ago, was confirmed by the Senate, last night, with the following, exceptions:
In Second Cavalry -- Capt. George C. Crom, of New-York; Capt. ----- HAYES, of Pennsylvania; Lieut. Mark F. Leavenworth, of New-York.
In Eleventh Infantry -- Lieut. Charles Lieb, of Illinois, and Lieut. Verenando Pulizzi, of the District of Columbia.
In Twelfth Infantry -- Capt. Alex. J. Dallas, of the District of Columbia.
In Thirteenth Infantry -- Capt. Samuel A. Wainwright, of the District of Columbia.
In Fifteenth Infantry -- Lieut. Edward F. Gallagher, of Kentucky, and Lieut. Robert P. King, Jr., of Pennsylvania.
In Sixteenth Infantry -- Capt. Thos. Johnston, of New-York; Capt. Leech, of Pennsylvania; and Lieut. S.W. Pettit, of Connecticut.
In Seventeenth Infantry -- Lieut. Daniel W. Hughes, of Kentucky; and Lieut. Edward A. Lester, of Michigan.
In Eighteenth Infantry -- Lieut. John W. Hamilton, of Illinois.
In Fifth Artillery -- Second Lieut. Lloyd H. Harrison, of Ohio; and Second Lieut. Henry L. Taliaferro, of Kentucky.
AN ARMY FROM ILLINOIS.
Forty-four regiments, enlisted for the war, are already enrolled in Illinois, and gentlemen from that State are pressing their acceptance by the Government.
