Landlord out $24,000 in rent due to eviction moratorium, says tenants buying boats
Fox News ^ | 8/5/2004 | Nikolas Lanum

A North Carolina landlord says he is out $24,000 in unpaid rent from tenants, while one renter bought three boats over the course of the eviction moratorium just as the CDC announced a new ban that will last until October 3.

Buddy Shoup, who owns 35 properties across the state, said that he has been forced to maintain the properties and hemorrhage costs while the federal government slowly dribbles out rental assistance, of which only 7% has been doled out to renters in need.

‘[The money] was used, they went and bought brand new boats, but I mean, you know in a time of crisis like what we’ve been through, you’re evidently getting money from somewhere, but it’s not getting to me," said Shoup.

Those very same tenants allegedly contacted Shoup when their air-conditioning failed in the middle of the summer.

Shoup was legally required to make the $4,500 repair on the residence but said he did not receive any money from the tenants or the government to cover the additional cost.

"It goes way beyond the loss of rental income, we’re still bound by county rules and laws," added Shoup. "We have to maintain the property."

Shoup said that he oftentimes sends tenants who cannot pay rent to local programs, which are funded by city and county taxpayer dollars, in order to acquire some form of assistance.

Yet, when it comes to federal rental assistance, the North Carolina landlord said he hasn’t seen any indication that the money is reaching struggling renters.

The head of the CDC is another liberal JAW with an E.

Yes, as a group "JAWS" are very successful, so many are in the public eye, giving the impression of some kind of purposeful concentration. Yet I know plenty of conservative "JAWS." I don't know any with a globalist/zionist agenda. My own Italian-heritage family has its own share of idiot leftists and stupid, grasping government apparatchiks.

The real goal is to destroy Mom and Pop landlords in favor of Blackrock owning all the properties and herding people into metro areas.

Just because the gov says you can't evict them right now does not mean that their debt is erased. Land lords should still enforce their contracts and seek court judgments covering the lost revenue.

Enjoy your new boat snapper head I have a court judgment against you and you still owe me $25K and I am not going away.

Few and far between.

Meanwhile the Blackstone Group is doing just fine with their non-paying tenants, while they buy out all the smaller landlords who are going under. The Great Reset is advancing through its script, page by page.

> while one renter bought three boats

Jokes on him. He’ll never recover financially.

On a side note... I once saw a very affordable property. It was a house with existing tenants and an empty apartment over a separate garage. I thought, “Wow. I could buy most of it with cash and live comfortably in the apartment on the rent money from the house.” Glad I didn’t take advantage of that sweet deal. I’d be close to broke today.

Yet I know plenty of conservative “JAWS.”

I have called on thousands of small business owners over the years. Vast majority are conservative or at least lean right.

I recall only two, maybe three conservative Jewish business owners. Most are liberal.

Well, I guess I’m one of the few.

I’d fine some way to sink the boats if I could not seize them.

Sounds like an idiot. Did a 4,500 air conditioning repair? Could have put in a whole new system for that or a grand more. I think this guy is just dumb.

The end of private property rights.

From Tucker's show last night. I highly recommend you take a couple of minutes and watch his monologue on the CDC and the rent eviction moratorium. The relevant info starts at the 1:00 minute mark.

Tucker Carlson: Rochelle Walensky now makes the laws, and she's taking your private property

What’s a landlord to do. The only option is to sell out. It’s clear that the left is intent on eliminating private property one way or another.

“Ban” and “Moratorium” are the wrong words.

No one should dare to tell me that this isn’t the left acting out its desire to seize all private property and put it in the hands of the collectivity. Dogma #1 of communism: eliminate private property. This is forcing landowners to provide an apartment, heat, light, maintenance, insurance and parking for nothing in return.

After this is successfully implemented, they will move on to the owner-occupied house. Then to your car, your IRA and 401K. Do not doubt me. (Thanks, Rush).

I have a ex friend who did something similar.
Water damage to basement so he took insurance $ and bought a boat.
I wonder how many deadbeat renters are going to take the cash and run.
Probably 100%.

“The end of private property rights.”

It is even much worse than that. The landlord has to provide a place for the tenant to live. Most expenses paid. The landlord is actually a slave to the tenant. The landlord cannot even walk away from the property.
