Why aren't we hollering about masks ineffectiveness?
August 4, 2014 | From The Deer Stand

As Democrats continue infringing on our rights in their zest for controlling the masses, why isn't there a major public outcry? There have been at least a dozen studies showing a minure difference in wearing or not wearing a mask. Students suffer in masks all day, not to mention problems caused in athletics. Even researchers in Sweden have proven the ineffectiveness of masks. Time to get vocal folks. Enough is enough!

Your post about the size of the virus is getting really old. I am tired of reading it and seeing the example of a cyclone fence and a pea. You should know the virus travels from our nose and mouth enclosed by a nice sized bubble of saliva and snot. It is the perfect bubble to be caught by mask fibers that all have an electrostatic charge. You do know about electrostatic electricity and Ben Franklin and the kite?

Public health and clinical laboratories reported 2,038 flu cases during the season from Sept. 27, 2020, to April 24, 2021, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The agency estimated about 38 million people were sick with the flu during the 2019-2020 season.

I have not worn a mask since this pandemic started. I don't even own one.

If a store or a business required one, I just didn't use them. Others didn't enforce the mask requirements. Those are the ones I used.

Masks are worthless to stop this virus. But uneducated partisan, laymen politicians decided they would.

It was all about control, not health.

Like putting up a chain link fence around your yard to keep mosquitoes out.

Face diapers are almost totally useless to stop a virus, either incoming or outgoing. Totally virtue signaling. When I see someone with a mask on I assume they are a rat. Or a sheep, as the case may be.

Masks have a place to offer some protection in short-term situations or those involving complete strangers.

Policemen don’t always stop crooks.

I’m in Florida and starting to hear people cough. I’ll store my fabric masks and use medical-style masks.

“because it is a valved mask with no filtration of exhaled breath, it does not protect anyone else but the wearer from Covid-19. Such valved masks are no longer recommended or approved by the CDC. So I got a second mask and stuck a piece of N95 mask over the exhale valve port. A near perfect mask for virus protection now. I intend to modify it for addition of a P100 filter over the exhalation valve port. That should result in one of the best, nearly 100% full protection (inhale+exhale) masks/respirators possible.”

Large employers probably need to get expert scientific advice.

We should all look like aliens with these type of things.

I have faith in my natural immunity from several short Covid bouts and two shots of Moderna, for now.

“bridge of my nose”

Masks often have a wire part that can be bent to fit the shape of the bridge your nose.

Such a mask is meant to be worn a certain way so that metal wire in the mask is close by your nose.

I looked at a lightweight version and was thinking of using it as an alternative to the cloth masks. Good minds think alike.

However, many people want the cloth masks and manufacturers have made no changes except put copper in the fabric. I laugh when I see them.

Will a mask stop a fart?

--------------------------

Depends on the mask...a gas mask would do the trick.

"Fart smell" particle size = ~0.4 nm

COVID-19 virus particle size = around 60-140 nm (and COVID-19 virus particles don't have wings and cannot fly...they ride on much larger saliva particles when airborne).

(1 nanometer = 0.001 micron)

The “issue” is never the Issue. The Issue is The Revolution.

It ain’t about the masks.

Farts? Now that’s really funny! Here is the rundown on farts:

The droplets containing Covid are much larger than flatulence which is comprised of nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, oxygen, methane and sulfur. More than 50 percent of the gas you release is nitrogen. Hydrogen, carbon dioxide, oxygen and methane make up the rest, along with sulfur, which is the source of gas’s odor. Different types of sulfur compounds create different odors:

Hydrogen sulfide, which is very common, will produce a rotten egg smell. It is a colorless gas.

Methanethiol will produce a smell similar to rotting vegetables or garlic. It is a colorless gas.

Dimethyl sulfide is often described as smelling like cabbage but might add a sweetness to the overall smell of gas. It is a flammable liquid that boils at 37 °C (99 °F)—human body temperature—creating a gas.
