Fareed Zakaria, the anchor of CNN's popular "GPS" international news show, has apologized to Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs President Dr. Dore Gold for an erroneous report in his show.

On July 25, during an interview with King Abdullah of Jordan, Zakaria claimed that Gold, the former director-general of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, said, "Jordan needs to start thinking of itself as the Palestinian state. In other words, there is a two-state solution. The Palestinian state is Jordan."
Zakaria also tweeted the alleged on his personal account, which was cited widely in the Jordanian press.
Gold set the record straight immediately, tweeting, "Zakaria is reporting fake news. I never said these things. If Zakaria had read my articles published in Israel about the importance of the Hashemite Kingdom to Israel, he would understand that I also view the stability of the Hashemite Kingdom as an anchoring element for Israel and the entire region."
Zakaria offered a televised apology during hi Aug. 1 show, saying, "On last week's show, I asked King Abdullah about the concept that there would be no stand-alone Palestine state in the future that but instead his nation, Jordan, would become de-facto Palestine state.
"I said the idea had been recently mentioned by long-time Israeli diplomat Dore Gold. I was wrong. Many have talked about that concept, but not Ambassador Gold. I apologize for that error."
Gold responded: "Facts and the pursuit of truth are important things in the work I do, so it was important that this mistake be corrected."

He's not wrong.
So he didn’t say it.
Jordan as the homeland for palestinians is a good idea. As long as there’s a mile-wide DMZ along the Jordan River.
Maybe (hopefully) the cost of libel/slander has reached a tipping point for CNN.
They are called Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. 🙄
Jordan WAS the Palestinian state.
But then some of them assassinated the Jordanian king….
I am not sure Jordan considers itself a Palestinian State.
In about 1970 I think the PLO tried to take over and got their butts handed to them.
CNN lied?
I am shocked.
No Arab nation wants the Palestinians but Israel is expected to take them in. The people the Palestinians have vowed to slaughter to the last person. Ya, that makes sense.
Gold may not have said it, but Jordan is Arab Palestine. The original Palestine was divided in two, a sliver for Jewish Palestinians and the remainder for Arab Palestinians. The Jewish sliver was renamed “Israel” and the Arab portion renamed “Jordan”.
“As long as there’s a mile-wide DMZ along the Jordan River.”
I think that is called the green line and runs the length of Israel. It’s a road patrolled by the Israeli military.
Funny story. In the late 70’s I lived on a Kibbutz that butted up against the road. We were told never to cross the road. One day, the Israeli military showed up to the gates. They wanted to know who was the guy in the size 13 pro-keds, who weighed approximately 150 pounds who crossed into Jordan.
There is no Palestinian State. Never was, never will be. The British renamed the area given to the Jews by God the “British Mandate of Palestine” in 1917. The name came from the Roman Province of Syria Palestina, which was designated by the Emperor Hadrian in about 135, after the Bar Kochba Rebellion. He destroyed Jerusalem and built the Roman Provincial Capitol of Aelia Capitolina on its ruins. The Palestinians have tried to create their state continuously since the Israel War of Independence in 1948, and the World has tried desperately to “get rid of the Jews” ever since. Dore Gold is well aware of the Jordanian ownership of their area and has written several books on the subject. I highly recommend all of them, including “The Fight for Jerusalem”, “The Tower of Babble”, and “Hatred’s Kingdom”.
