The star was working on his film Treasure Valley in Idaho. He was the star and had also written and was producing the Western film that was scheduled to be released in 2022.
Travis Mills, who was also acting in the film, said on Facebook it seemed the star had a heart attack.
'Jay Pickett, our leading man, writer, producer, and creator of this movie passed away suddenly while we were on location preparing to film a scene.
'There is no official explanation for the cause of his death but it appears to have been a heart attack. Everyone present tried as hard as they could to keep him alive. Our hearts are broken and we grieve for his family who are so devastated by this shocking tragedy.'

Heat stroke could be a good guess. It is HOT and HUMID in Idaho right now. And there is LOTS of forest fire smoke all over the place which could exacerbate any existing lung problems.

The smoke has been very thick in Idaho for weeks now and it really does put a lot of stress on the heart and lungs.

I worked with Jay on “Port Charles” - he was a really, really nice guy. An LA friend of mine told me he was sitting on his horse, leaned over, and never woke up again. Such a shame.

Perhaps history of coronary artery disease led to a myocardial infarction (heart attack) and ventricular fibrillation with the immediate cause being an occlusive coronary thrombosis in the left anterior descending artery resulting from a ruptured cholesterol plaque.
It’s fairly common as far as overall longterm wellness is concerned, usually because of poor health choices.
