The $715 billion infrastructure bill that passed the U.S. House of Representatives earlier this month includes a $6,550,000 earmark aimed at stopping people from committing suicide by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge, which is in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s congressional district. […]
“The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District is in the process of constructing a Suicide Deterrent Net System (SDNS) to deter suicides at the Bridge by placing a physical barrier between a person and the water below,” it says. “The SDNS consists of marine grade stainless steel netting attached to structural steel net supports placed 20 feet below the sidewalks and extending out 20 feet over the water.” […]

NOT the BEE??
Living in Piglosi’s district, suicide may be a viable option.
There are plenty of tall buildings and other structures in SF for folks that want to kill themselves.
One story a contractor told me—they were building a mid rise structure (ten stories) in an Eastern city—somebody climbed over the site fence, found a way to get to the top of the partially built building, and then jumped to their death.
I seem to remember suicide-thwarting structures on that bridge from way back. Determined people must have found ways around them.
That’s ironic, since the word “viable” is derived from a French word meaning “capable of life”.
just jump down 20 ft’ to the stainless steel netting and then jump off that?
problem solved suicider
Slush fund
Wouldn't it be a better approach to just expel her from Congress?? Typical government, never remove the problem when you can apply a Band-Aid/pork! XD
$6.5 Million will buy a lot of $15/qt ice cream for that skank.
Don’t the tin foil hats stop the bullets?
Seems counterproductive to me.
I guess we need more suicide control laws.
If they are democrats/liberals why stop them?
They should make the railings handicap accessible.
That’s a payoff to somebody, with probably a substantial kickback. It’s politics today.
“just jump down 20 ft’ to the stainless steel netting and then jump off that?”
That is not what the article says. If we spend the $6.5 million it will “stop” them. Not just reduce them or hinder them, it will STOP them.
Tell me it isn’t so...
She’s going to have us all committing suicide if she doesn’t get hauled out of the House and sent to the booby hatch.
Be interesting to see what company-companies get the contract for that work!!! We can guess and we’d be right.
I guess human poo clean up is not part of infrastructure.
