The PCR does not identify the Covid virus...

It detects the virus and identifies it as SARS CoV-2. Further testing can identify which variant.

This has been known from the start.

The PCR Does not detect the Covid virus. It uses a strand of molecules as a reference and check for that sequence in other materials. The PCR was developed without access to a live virus. China developed a genome which it released to the world on Jan 10 but it did so without access to the live virus.

It used gene sequencing, which cannot determine the genome of a 'novel' virus, as we are told Covid is supposed to be. The sequencing software patches in portions of genome from similar viruses, but at that time the CDC was busy lying through it's teeth claiming Covid was 'novel' and therefore there is no 'similar virus.

SO the 'shots' and PCR were developed without the authentic virus for comparison. THere are more than one PCR 'tests' for Covid. The WHO got 'clever' and used as a reference a chain of molecules present in the human genome. That way, if the swab picked up any human genetic material in the nasal cavity, the person would be diagnosed 'positive' for Covid.

Other PCRs were less useful. They tested positive for Kiwi, goat, orange juice, and Coca Cola but results for motor oil were inconclusive. The PCR is using as a reference a strand of molecules found in many other substances, but nothing specific to Covid or any other coronavirus.

If that weren't enough, the CDC intentionally directs the tests to be run at a cycle rate that even ANthony Fauci said rendered the test 'meaningless' because it identified leftover remnants of generic viral material floating  around.

SO the test was never valid. I've been saying that for months and no one has refuted it. When complaints from the online community go forth, lawsuits have begun over the fraudulent PCR test, the CDC replies with crickets.

As the 'jig is up' and the public realizes  the CDC destroyed their lives with a fake PCR, quarantining, and fake vaccines based on a fake PCR, the CDC announced it is retiring the PCR 'test' for a new test produced by your favorite Eugenecist, Bill Gates, and his monstrous side-kick George Soros.

That's my point.

Are CDC’s newest Covid variant tests for "Surveillance only"?

We know of two different cases where the culprits who spread the disease were identified.

In late June, one couple our age, 80 something got hammered with the Delta variant and ended up in the big PPO's hospital for about a week and a week at a step down unit. They supposedly got it from her PT, and he was hammered with the critter. Their family living next door got it and were over it in a few days.

Our contractor earlier this month got hammered with this Delta variant. His wife and two young daughters barely had it. Supposedly, a baby sitter gave it to friends of their daughters, who gave it their daughters and their mother, his wife. Then he got it from his family.

My wife and I were wondering what was new as the PCR tests could/can not be that specific.

Maybe now we know.

SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) is as similar to Influenza virus as humans are to snails. They're both viruses, but that's where the similarity ends. They aren't even in the same phylum. The RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 distinguishes it from all other known viruses, including SARS-CoV-1 and MERS-CoV.

No, you absolutely can. It is literally impossible for the Influenza virus to trigger an RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2. The sequences don't match at all. Not even close. Influenza's genome has about 14,000 base pairs. SARS-CoV-2 has about 29,000. They're completely and totally different.

Complete genome sequencing is expensive and time consuming. Roughly $130 per sample. The US has had over 35 million positive cases so far. You want the Federal government handing CDC an additional $5 Billion to satisfy your personal curiosity? Also, it would take months because of the backlog because there aren't enough labs and personnel to keep up. If you want to know which variant you have, find a lab who will take a sample and pay for it out of your own pocket.

It's true the Covid test they're retiring can't identify influenza, but it can't identify smallpox either. It identifies SARS CoV-2 only - by design

The test reliably said whether a sample included SARS CoV-2 or not, because that's what it was designed to do.

It never confused the Covid virus with any other and only anti Covid-vaxxers are stupid or dishonest enough to imply it did.
