Thought some of you would find this funny.
I got a contact from my editors at Sentinel that they had an anonymous group interested in booking me to speak. What were my fees, remote & in person.
I sent back a number for remote: for in-person, $3k more + expenses; for in-person in NY, CA, or IL, $8k more + expenses.
Turned out it was a group in a blue city, a panel "discussion" and I was warned about civility, blah, blah. So I didn't want to go.
He said, "We are going to pay you more than that [my fee]" but it involved a lot of circulating with students, extra-curricular. I was getting less happy by the minute. It was in Feb. 22. Snow, ice, delays.
I wrote, "Your goofball governor will probably have you locked down again." He said, "Ok, never mind." :)
Yeah the risk/reward prospects don’t look good. Unless you really needed the money.
Too many If’s and the possibility of getting set up
I hope you speak better than you write. I don't understand this sentence.
Did your expenses include bodyguards ?
Maybe some of the non-couch-potato FR members could have been looking for some side work?
There’s only just so much civility that one can show towards the violent, unstable mental party.
I don’t know how,James O’Keefe does it, he must be a saint
LOL. I’m sure by ‘civility’ they mean, ‘don’t voice a conservative opinion’.
That’s exactly what they meant.
I think it was 3-4 libs & me to be the foil.
I gave them a price (which I won’t disclose) for remote: I added $3k for in-person appearance; I added $8k for in person in three states. Thought it was clear.
And since I was a NY Times #1 bestseller & a #7 bestseller, yah, I think I write ok.
be sure to list your cancellation fee
also after 5 emails are exchanged charge a consulting fee
LOL I DO
He charges more to go to liberal states..... Or, another way to look at it, a discount to go to conservative states.
I understand it fine. It's slightly domain-specific, but I get it. Are you aware that LS has published maybe a dozen books and is a professor of history (although retired)?
Do you need a body guard. I charge 1500 and all paid expenses. And all the chicken wings I want. But you will be safe and untouched. Lol. Joking..
OK, Simone.
We know it's rough being the "head star" and all that.
Thanks dicknipple.
Can always count on you to understand a situation.
NOT.
LS has a base rate for remote appearances via Skype or Zoom or whatever.
If he appears in person, add $3,000 to the base cost, plus travel and lodging costs.
If he appears in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, or New York City, add another $8,000 for high cost of living locations.

you should agree to go and then stir up the bees nest

I thought it was pretty clear.
$X for remote
$X+$3k+expenses for in person
$X+$8k+expenses for in person in NY, CA, IL
Obviously he’s not interested in disclosing $x, which is his right.
Thanks dicknipple.
