This is a very real problem.
Two times in the last month I have waited for almost ONE HOUR in a restaurant for a meal. The answer when we asked why was “Only one cook.”
First, there are fewer kids. In Spain, Russia, & Japan this is already a shocking reality. China is now TWO YEARS older than the USA on average and is gaining a shocking six months every year on us (i.e., they are avg 40, we are 38, but in six more months they will be an average of 40.5 and we’ll still be 38).
Second, those kids and/or service workers who ARE current employees have been brainwashed into thinking they should be getting Tom Brady-type pay.
Third, the China Virus convinced many they can “work from home.” No. This was meant as a temp fix, not a livestyle.
Opens opportunity for some, i.e. those who have a good work ethic, and those who are developing robot cooks/servers.

Someone needs to tell them “working from home” doesn’t extend to burger flipping.
Although it would make a great comedy routine.
Cook at home, it is cheaper. I’m in Puerto Rico and they’re not having this problem here, especially for customers who are known to pay cash.
