Williamsburg - a neighborhood known for its hipsters.

This article may be disappointing to Freepers, who say “I didn’t even need to looks at the picture.”

I am picturing the Cafeteria fight scene in Blazing Saddles.

I’m not saying you can’t get great pizza in Williamsburg, but the area is more known for bagels. Lots of Hasidic Jews who won’t be frequenting a place with so much pork (not to mention dairy and meat together). I don’t remember seeing much pizza in that part of the city. Of course, if that’s where you live, maybe it will do if you don’t get beaten up.

Those early A.M. (Midnight-to-5 A.M.) gatherings seemingly tend to go badly most time...
Personally, I have always reserved those hours for the gym, the computer, FR, and deserts...

It’s Williamsburg: they must have some hand-pulled, artisanal, free-range pizza everywhere.

Always liked the guy playing Schicklgruber in the back saluting everybody...

I stopped dating the girl I knew there in '94. Sounds like things got deranged since. Must be driving the Hasidim crazy. Why would anyone pay $40 for a free-range artisan pizza when you can get a nice apizza from a family making it at the same location for 4 generations for half that?

Both sides were fighting dirty; two against one and such.
The only thing missing would be two guys throwing bags of wheat flour at each other. Two others throwing pizza sauce. Then everybody slip-sliding on the wet, saucy dough covered floors. That tune from the old Benny Hill show comes to mind.

Speaking of pizza and NYC whatever happened to FReeper dp065 from Staten Island? I dont see his posts anymore and he used to post quite a bit here. Hope he’s ok.

Your image of Williamsburg is 30 years out of date. North Williamsburg has been hipsterville for at least 25 years. Satmar Hasids are more in South Williamsburg

Most of those family owned “apizza” places are long gone. Basically your choices these days are pricey artisanal pizza or the 99 a cent slice halal crap.

Indeed. or claiming “it’s the Amish” with “clever” induendo. Yeah, it’s gotten really old. That and a bunch of other worn-out “witty” cliches when these types of articles are posted.
