Gee, the area isn't all that large to divide north and south. I would head in on the Williamsburg bridge (the WORST bridge for a '66 Dart with skinny tires) and head towards Greenpoint (which in those days still had a Polish element. The hipsters were just coming in, and I always saw the hasidim in the area just off of the bridge.

I have had no reason to go to NYC since 1997. I don't even fly into JFK or LaGuardia. It sounds like I've missed nothing except a decline.
