My Universities football team (Louisiana University Monroe) was called the Indians. It was called the Indians in honor of the noble tribes in North Louisiana of years past. Today it is not called the Indians as this is politically incorrect. This confuses me.
We honored noble tribes via their name. To change the name is dishonor in my mind. ?????

Every poll I’ve seen has indicated that 80 to 90 per cent of Native Americans don’t object to Indian-related names for sports teams.
(My husband was so pissed about this that we watched ‘Major League’ tonight, just for spite...great movie.)
