I can usually tell around the 4th or 5th cup that I'm done for the day.

I just check with myself at the limit.

...when it comes to coffee, five is the magic number."

I drink 6 cups for breakfast so I'm looking good!

The next study will say something different. And the next, and the next.

Man, when I worked construction I’d have 2 cups before I even left the house. Another cup on the way to the job site. A thermos (3 cups) for the morning. There was usually extra at the site. I easily hit 6-8 cups/day. Moved into office work and was more 3-4 cups/day. Now I work from home and I’ve backed off to 1 cup in the morning.

The jitter juice had me in it’s clutches for awhile.

Did they ever tell us how many ounces of coffee in a cup was the measurement?

Why can’t they just answer the damn question in the first line of the paragraph?

Mom’s 97 and she drinks coffee all day long. Fresh. Cold. Stale. She doesn’t care.

Who knows how common it is, but some people get into a vicious ping pong cycle of too much alcohol at night followed by too much coffee the next day to counteract it. The massive coffee during the day then leads to repeating the cycle. They can’t successfully cut back on the alcohol until they make the connection the coffee has to be reduced in tandem.

Another stupid “study.” I drink coffee because I like it. Recommending 5 cups per day is irresponsible. It’s COFFEE! for crying out loud! It has caffeine! Too much caffeine and you have problems. Inability to sleep is just one.

I pay no attention to these “studies” except to ridicule them.

For the love of God, will these people ever cease and desist with the never-ending, schizophrenic reporting on this drink? One minute it’s saving my life. The next minute it’s rotting my brain. Ugh.

Non-coffee drinkers are dour killjoys, so it is really hard to say that lack of coffee specifically is what is shortening their lives.

And there is a massive range presently in what people consider to be “a cup” of coffee.

For coffee a cup is considered 6 ounces. Just saying as many just figure it is the standard 8.

I know it would be expecting too much to quantify what size a cup and how many ounces. It’s like the thing about having no more than two drinks per day of alcohol. What quantity? Q

Most all my family before my time drank like fish, some smoked like chimneys, drown themselves in coffee, ate red meat, loved eggs cooked in butter, and didn’t Jog 5 miles a day.
They all lived into their late 80’s and early 90’s.
I think I’ll have a beer.
