Breakthrough infections, or COVID-19 cases diagnosed after someone is fully immunized, were supposed to be rare - at least that's what a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggested in May. At the time, data indicated that just 0.01% of vaccinated Americans got a breakthrough case from January to April.
But that was before the more transmissible Delta variant became the dominant strain in the US.
The share of breakthrough infections also inevitably rises as more people get vaccinated - though it's hard to know how many of these cases occurred since the CDC report came out. The agency stopped tracking asymptomatic, mild, or moderate breakthrough cases on May 1.
Though the current vaccines still protect against Delta, the chances that you'll know someone with a breakthrough case, or develop one yourself, are higher than they've ever been.
But most disease experts still expect COVID-19 to be milder in vaccinated people, regardless of the variant.
"The variants may cause you to still maybe get an infection, but not serious," Peter Gulick, an associate professor of medicine at Michigan State University, told Insider in June. "It would be almost like getting an infection with the common cold or one of those nagging things that gives you sniffles and a cough and makes you feel a little tired, but nothing serious enough to put you in the hospital or put you on a ventilator."

The risk/reward on this one is ridiculously complicated...but since it is the sociopaths pushing the vaccine that is enough to convince me...

Delta is not a variant but a strain
The game here, if you think about it....they will say it’s 90 percent effective for X and 85 percent effective with Y. So even if you vaccinate and get bad-off....going to the ICU, you will just be recorded as having a ineffective vaccination. End of discussion.
I had Covid back around Easter....12 days worth. I’d call it a 3-star flu, with an exceptionally bad cough. Beyond that, it was regular typical flu. Instead of wasting time on the vaccination stuff...I’d rather they find a 4-star cough medication.

Ridiculous. Itâs just like the flu vaccine, because flu viruses mutate and every year they develop a new vaccine based on the two most common strains for the prior year. I rarely get a flu shot because its chances of being effective do not outweigh the risks (and ANY vaccine can be risky by its nature). Sometimes Iâve gotten it and then gotten a flu that year.
A corona virus is a cold virus (upper respiratory) that is even more contagious than a flu virus, and also mutates like mad. This is why you have the âseasonal coldâ and why theyâve never been able to develop a vaccine for it.
Keep your immune system up, wash your hands, get vaccinated or not, as you wish, and your chances will be about the same.
So this vaccination push, like masks, is about nothing except government power.

These are the symptoms in the vast majority of circumstances for anyone infected with Covid even without a vaccination.
And now theyâre proclaiming that you wonât spread it after getting sick (symptomatic).
