Some 143 Israelis were hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Wednesday at 12 p.m., according to the Health Ministry. Fifty-eight percent of them were vaccinated, 39% were not and 3% were partially vaccinated, meaning they had taken one dose or a full week had not passed since their second shot.
Only one patient was a child. Five were pregnant women or women who recently gave birth.
Of the country’s 64 serious patients, including 17 in critical condition, there were 12 who were being invasively ventilated. However, while the percentage of vaccinated cases was high, the percentage of those who require invasive treatment was low: Only three fully vaccinated people were being invasively ventilated.
Also, only two people were connected to an ECMO external oxygenation machine, and neither of them were vaccinated.

On January 15th, before the vaccination drive, Israel had 2189 people hospitalized with Covid.
As of yesterday they had 140.
They work.
Tell that to about a dozen of my coworkers who have been jabbed and have gotten it. Some have had it twice.
I’m not looking to news for truth.
I see it in my own circle.
The Jerusalem Post does not appear to be an Anti vaxxer site. Looks like the vaccine does not keep people from getting really sick and dying.
I notice in other threads people stated the vaccinated had underlying conditions that cause them to die. I can agree with that, and they would have died without the vaccine too.
How do we know if an infected vaccinated person was not admitted to the hospital because of the vaccine?
A person without any underlying conditions can be infected also without being admitted to the hospital.
Does the vaccine work? We will not know for a couple of months.
For now, I will sit this out with no vaccine and see what happens. I work from home and do not go to town often.
How many have died?
That’s the most important stat.
What would be very interesting to know is what the underlying health conditions were for these people. Would anyone be surprised that the vaccinated were all healthy and the unvaccinated were not?!? Terrible implications if so.

Bingo: My 75-year-old mother has a heart condition, and she is having brain (fluid buildup) issues. Not sure if she would live if she got the vaccine.
She tested positive for covid last year and was only sick for a couple of days. Knowing this it would not make sense for her to get the vaccine. We just must pray she does not get re-infected.
The problem with all these statistics is that they are all anecdotal. They gave the vaccine out without completing clinical studies. Now there is no control group. It’s all just a guessing game and we are the ginea pigs.
Maybe is the operative word. You need a full medical history of every person that gets the jab and every person who doesn’t. You need to know if they live in a crowded urban apartment building or if they live on a farm. You need to know if they work in an office or in the field.
At this point it’s too late to gather the data. It’s just hit or miss.
I’m in the control group. But I may have already had the disease. That’s another thing they aren’t telling us.
DUH!!! If majority of Israeli’s are vaccinated, anyone with IQ slightly above Biden’s should be able tp figure out majority of patients will be vaccinated HAHAHAHA
Sometimes I wonder what our public schools are teaching the students.
But not the same numbers.
That there are just 143 in hospital for this reason out of 9 million plus people, of which maybe 2 million are especially vulnerable due to age and other conditions.
And once again, why don’t they ever mention the millions of Covid survivors who are immune from the virus? It’s like we don’t exist just because we don’t find it necessary to subject our bodies to an unapproved vaccine when we already have immunity.
Its a numbers game. Its all about probabilities. If “you’re just likely to not be hospitalized or die”, the key word is “likely”. So one must compare numbers.
The biggest natural experiment in all this is going on right now in the UK, with exploding numbers of the “Delta” variant in the so-called fifth wave. This is shaping up to be comparable to the scale of the winter wave the UK had. Its still a little too early to tell if the deaths that accompanied the winter wave will repeat in this one. Since winter nearly all the vulnerable people in the UK received the Astra Zeneca vaccine.
If deaths are vastly lower than previous experience with these “waves”, then the vaccine worked. If not, not. So far the death rate is trivial, a tiny fraction of previous waves. This may or may not continue.
