WHAT tourism industry?
They had some of the only rare earth mineral deposits NOT in Chinese hands, directly or indirectly. China has large deposits, and a Chinese company is mining another large site in Afghanistan.
And to think, there was a time when Greenland was warm enough to grow crops. That is why the Vikings settled there.
Then the cold weather set in to make it what it is today, as Greenland appears to be returning to the way it was originally when settled.
I think Trump bought it and is building a golf course on it.
Thank goodness they have no oil. Good reason to stop exploration.

in other words, after 50 years of exploration by numerous major players, no appreciable reserves have been found so rather than admit they have no oil, they blame the climate
It does have increasing tourism, maybe in part because Iceland became a victim of overtourism.
A lot of polar cruises go there. They also have hotels and direct flights from Iceland now.
When they figure out this isn’t going to work for them, the oil and gas will still be right there waiting, and more profitable than ever. Everybody has big plans until they get cold.
