The efficacy of a drug being promoted by rightwing figures worldwide for treating Covid-19 is in serious doubt after a major study suggesting the treatment is effective against the virus was withdrawn due to “ethical concerns”…
He found the introduction section of the paper appeared to have been almost entirely plagiarised.
It appeared that the authors had run entire paragraphs from press releases and websites about ivermectin and Covid-19 through a thesaurus to change key words. “Humorously, this led to them changing ‘severe acute respiratory syndrome’ to ‘extreme intense respiratory syndrome’ on one occasion,” Lawrence said….
“Because the Elgazzar study is so large, and so massively positive – showing a 90% reduction in mortality – it hugely skews the evidence in favour of ivermectin,” Meyerowitz-Katz said.
“If you remove this one study from the scientific literature, suddenly there are very few positive randomised control trials of ivermectin for Covid-19. Indeed, if you get rid of just this research, most meta-analyses that have found positive results would have their conclusions entirely reversed.”

“Huge study supporting ivermectin as Covid treatment withdrawn over ethical concerns”
Interesting how something they denied ever existed - a ‘huge study’ on Ivermectin, was withdrawn.
All that I EVER HEARD was that there was only small studies, and that a large-scale study was needed. Now a ‘huge study’ appears out of nowhere, only to be withdrawn? Say what?
And why did they wait until now to withdraw the article, it’s been 8 FULL MONTHS since it was out...with all the vax-bro’s here and elsewhere, if it was so obviously bogus, what took them so long?
Something funny...
Reads like psyops.
But for some in this forum it’s both an IQ test and self-abuse.
The India example is totally ignored by the press these days.
Shameful, as is the example expressed at FR resulting in sticky floors in this thread.
Ivermectin did work for may 95 year old father in December 2020. Period. End discussion.
Note, I have nothing to do with Q. Never did. Never will.
ethical concerns = big pharma cannot make enough money off the drug
Well there you go. A series of 1 subjective study with no controls is absolute proof. I’m glad your father is better it your experience proves nothing
Bingo!!! They could not admit to a cure- if they had no vaccines and the loss of billions of $$$$ to big pharma
My father died in March of 2021, of heart failure. He had quaddrople bypass surgery over 15 years ago, pacemaker for 5-6 years. After he came back positive on the Covid19 test the doctor gave him a prescription of Ivermectin 3X per day for 3 days. By 4th day all the symptoms were gone.
He also suffered from Pick’s disease for past 9 years. It had affected his motor control, balance, speech.
The meta doesn’t include that study. Results are still overwhelmingly positive.
Again, which Big Pharma employs you?
I am sorry for your loss. I am glad he recovered from covid. A series of 1 even if the ivermectin helped, which is not proven, proves nothing.
I’m not a Q follower. I think they are nut jobs. However I did have confirmed Covid. 3 of us in our family got it at the same time. There were two versions of the I-MASK protocol on the internet, and I wasn’t sure which one to follow. So I decided to be the science experiment and I followed the protocol with the higher dosage of ivermectin (dosed every day). (I used the horse paste). The other family received the lower dose (every other day).
There is no question that Covid was milder for me than it was for them.
I was working out and running two days in. I never developed a fever (the other two did). None of us developed shortness of breath or pulse ox problems. I never developed a cough (one of the other two had a cough for several days).
At least in our household, ivermectin seems to have made a difference.
It also didn’t affect me developing antibodies. As I had my blood tested and I have double the antibody level that is normally achieved after the first dose of one of the mRNA vaccines to someone who hasn’t been effected.
You can cite all the propaganda that you want, but I have first had experience with ivermectin and it seemed to work for us fine and the higher dose seemed to be correlated with a better result in me.
I’m not here to argue with you. I’m too old for that, I’m 73 and this type of discussion is a waste of time.
I don’t work for big oharma which is the go to attack when the data used to support weak treatment choices is presented. As rush used to say — comm sense guided by experience. Have you ever used ivermectin to test this disease? I have. Several times. And seen despite everything I threw at it the disease progressed.
Have you ever ordered monoxlonals? I have. Seen those teetering on the brink turn around in 12 hours
Have you ever used medications off label? I have. Tocilizumab. Seen it work much better in critical illness. Probable has saved a few lives
Do you currently attend an ICU full of Covid patients? I do. All of them are unvaccinated?
Do you network with tones of physicians in the doctors dining room where you find out what’s going on in your city? I do. This thing has been exploding for a week now. It’s real. It exists?
Have you stood at bedside with people dying because they thought this whole thing was fake? I have. Taken care of families stunned that Covid is real and it is deadly
This article simply confirms what I see in observation everyday. I have always been an early adapter to whatever might work. Many things have come and gone into the failure bin. Adapting is the key to practicing medicine in the face of the unknown.
So here is what I can tell you and in my medical judgment is the best way to deal with this disease
1. Get vaccinated. Of course it should be voluntary
2. If for some reason you choose not to get vaccinated and if you get sick …. Without delay start decadron 6 mg a day for five days. If you have any risk factors without delay week Regeneron infusion. You have about 10’days from symptom onset
3. If you don’t get regenerron and end up in the hospital make sure that your family advocates for a single dose of tocilizumab. Get this is your oxygen demand starts to increase and your markers of inflammation start to go off the rails (LDH, ferritin, d-dimer, CRP, lymphopenia)
This is a detailed stepwise approach to survive a disease that can be very deadly that is actually based on good data verified by studies
I wish you good health and the best of luck as this last wave gets us to herd immunity.
Doctors are not God.
CDC is corrupted by money ties to Phizer and others.
My niece has worked with a number of companies in the drug trial industry. I’m not a medical person, but have had a long exposure to the business for past 20 years taking care of my families sick and or elderly members.
Figures never lie, but Liars Figure.
I read what doctor/scientist Malone (he is the inventor of the mRNA treatment technlolgy) said about the treatment, before it was removed totally from the web. I interacted with him on Twitter the day he made his first statement there.
This is NOT about public health. It is about the agenda of a few.
This has been verified by well conducted clinical observational studies world wide.
The metabolic pathways of how it works to prevent replication of the virus have been mapped out and documented in peer reviewed and published journal articles in respected subject matter appropriate scientific journals.
It's effectiveness has been demonstrated macroscopically in places like India where the infection rates spiked exponentially when the drug was withdrawn from use due to WHO pressure and then subsided as soon as the drug was reintroduced due to the publishing of the above studies demonstrating how and why it worked.
Three or four years down the road this will all be confirmed by meticulously set up and controlled double blind clinical studies which take six months to a year just to formulate the protocols and establish the appropriate controls.
Too bad for the people who die in the interim.
Friends don't let friends do double blind clinical trials in the face of a pandemic caused by novel ( and probably bio engineered) and deadly virus.
The Guardian is a solid source on FR but Conservative blogs are not. Ivermectin is hated by the libs since it is cheap.
I want to make sure I understand this correctly....
If there is a study that is positive in regard to Ivermectin which later gets proven false, that means conclusively that Ivermectin is not effective? Is that right?
How about if there is a study that is negative to Hydroxychloroquine which is later proven false? Does that mean conclusively that Hydroxychloroquine IS effective?
I want to make sure I am getting the logic right.
Had a bad case of covid hangover for several months.
Took ivermectin and symptoms disappeared and rapidly got back to normal.
You have not had good luck with ivermectin but others have. You are also fortunate to have access to best in class treatment options such as Regeneron.
At this point, ivermectin has been shown to be effective in the prevention and treatment of early stage covid -19 infections. More importantly, how and why it works to prevent or slow the replication of the virus has been determined so the science behind it is validated.
As far as vaccines go, almost every person I know that got the vaccines had serious negative reactions to the second shot of the series that were comparable(sometimes worse) in severity to the symptoms I had with covid itself although they were shorter in duration by several days . Some had a lingering hangover from the vaccines.
The vaccines are proving to be narrow spectrum and only effective against a limited number of strains of the virus.
Thanks for the info. Will keep it recorded in case it's needed.
I’ve got a novel idea - let individuals choose which treatment they want.
