The problem with the Italian football team is that there’s just too many Italians on it, The Economist argued in a bizarre article linking Italy’s Euro 2020 victory to fascism, racism, and the defeat of multiculturalism.
Italy beat England 3-2 in a nail-biting penalty shootout on Sunday night, winning the UEFA European Championships for the first time since 1968. However, while Italians erupted in celebration, some dismayed England fans turned their anger on their team’s three black players who missed their penalty kicks.
Much has been written about the shameful racist abuse hurled at these players, but the day after the final, even as Italians were being physically attacked on British streets, The Economist managed to find a more obscure source of racism: the Italian team itself

I seem to remember this sort of thing being a literal comedy routine by someone way back in the 1970s. Something like: “I just got back from France. Great country. I love it there. The only problem is they have too many Frenchmen. I hate those guys.”
Not it’s not comedy. It’s the world.
Italy had the nerve to field a team of Italians. England’s diversity lost the game for them. Spectacular narrative collapse.

I think I’m just gonna say I don’t watch sports because of all the racism. That way they’ll leave me alone for a while at least.
There’s a cyclic nature to nature to culture. Had trans (fake) women, critical race theory, LGBT theology, a stolen election where an obviously senile pedophile “won” all of this is happening at once. It has a huge “push” (money and air time) behind it. If all of this were introduced slowly, over a few decades, the Overton Window would assure that in fifty years all new born babies would be offered up to pedophiles for sex. But by shoving all of this onto the great unwashed public at once and so loudly, it’s like an extremely strong ant shoving a bolder up a hill. The ant only has so much energy and the bolder has mass and gravity on its side. My guess is that the pushback (the bolder seeking its own energy level) will be epic.
Likely we will see the rights of biological women codified into laws. Everyone will understand that the person yelling racism is actually the racist. We’ll know the bolder has started rolling when media like CNN says something like, “It’s unfair for a biological woman to compete against a biological man.” When Bill Mauer says Trump is right*. When black leaders insist on “stop and search.”
I did as well. Dropped them when they endorsed Lurch for POTUS.

At the rate things are going, t won’t be long before all you see on TV is only blacks.
At that point we’ll be 100% diverse.
They are out of their minds. Ask any real Italian half of those players or more are mezzogiorno and therefore not totally white or full on considered of color by real Italiand’s aka Northern Italians know that mezzogiorno’s are all of “mixed” ancestry I could use the Italian world for them but it’s likely to get me banned when translated to what it ruffly means in American.
LOL, Northern Italians pretty much consider Southern Italians to be “black”.
You would be correct, Romans, Genovesens,Milanos, Napolitanos none of us consider mezzogiornos or Moxxxs as real Italianos just because the forced unification in 1948 says so does not a Italiano make. Ciao
It’s not pretty much we do consider them of color same for Sardianians and Sicilians. They all have mixed blood or Arab genes.
If the three black English players were gays, you would have had fans making gay threats.
If they were midgets, you would have had the fans making dwarf threats.
If they were gypsies, you would have had the fans making gypsy threats.
The problem is with society and culture. When people get upset they lash out at the first image that comes to mind. If government insist on making sports the equivalent to bread and circuses then don’t complain when people take the bait.
