I am posting this article as I have been using a "whole-body-vibration" (WBV) device for five months and have had truly outstanding effects on joint pain from osteoarthritis.

I have been able to stop using a cane, and with long-term use, am slowly regaining a normal walking stride instead of a "gimp limp". There is a ton of information on the web and videos on YouTube. I will post links to the best "layman's language" articles I have found in a later comment.

Are any fellow Freepers out there using this tech, and what has been your experience?

Makes my nose tingle when I stand on it. It’s supposed to get soreness out, but never used it for exercising.

"Makes my nose tingle when I stand on it.

Believe it or not, but that is actually a known and mentioned effect. Probably due to increasing blood circulation.

"It’s supposed to get soreness out, but never used it for exercising."

My wife has, for our entire 51 years of marriage, suffered from muscle cramps. Muscles will just decide to "twang up" and get as tight as a guitar string. I can give her relief by massaging, but since beginning WBV, her problems are DRASTICALLY reduced.

One of young Izzy Mandelbaum's products had a few bugs.

"Some folks will try anything."

Probably true. "I" didn't invest my bucks in a machine without doing a LOT of hard-core research on the subject. YMMV.

Of course, a WBV plate looks nothing like your "humourous" posting.

All right, once was enough. Twice is abusing civility. Get lost.

vibrating machines

My grandmother had one when I was a kid. She was fat and it didn't help her with that. We loved to fool around with the machine. If it helps with your arthritis that is great to know.

I may check it out. Not a lot of people use it. Someone told me they do calf raises on it and it works well.

I hope they study the effects on the lymphatic system. Unlike with blood vessels the fluids in the lymph system are not pumped by the heart. I would think that the vibrations in these platforms would help move the lymph fluid through the body.

"Interested! Where did you purchase yours?"

Got mine from Amazon. It was relatively "pricey" but nowhere near what the author of the article cites. I am satisfied with the quality. I wanted a more robust machine, as I am 210 lbs. Will Freepmail you a link.

I don't suffer from it. My WBV device:
