The UN human rights chief on Monday urged countries to take “a wide range of reparations measures” to address the legacies of slavery, colonial rule and racial discrimination.
Michelle Bachelet made the comment while presenting a report into racism worldwide and its impact on people of African descent.
The report was called for following the murder of (b)lack man George Floyd by a white US police officer in 2020.
Research “could not find a single example of a state that has comprehensively reckoned with its past or accounted for its impacts on the lives of people of African descent today,” Bachelet said.
This was despite some attempts by means of apologies, litigation and memorializing.
Bachelet recommended that countries “create, reinforce and fully fund comprehensive processes — with full participation of affected communities — to share the truth about what was done, and the harms it continues to inflict.” …

How about they start with the countries that CURRENTLY have slavery and work backward?
So are the African nations that participated in and still practice slavery going to pay themselves?
She looks NOTHING like the bulk of the mestizos in the country she used to rule.
And the racism and sexism is OVERT - they don't even try to hide it.
The USA is the only country that acknowledges the problem.
The rest of the world makes a big deal out of it when it makes no difference (China, Japan, England and the EU which have < 5% minorities) or ignore it and give it lip service past water's edge (Mexico, Latin America, Africa).

We’ll get to that right after the African tribes that sold other tribe members to the slavers give their reparations.
And Germany gives reparations to all they killed during two wars.
And Russia compensates their people for the sordid and vile Communist rule causing the death of millions.
And China does the same.
And the DemocRAT party does it for defending slavery right up to trying to reject the equal rights amendment in the 60s.

Yet nothing about going after the people that actually captured the slaves and sold them to the world.
Does anybody, anywhere think that this magical ‘reparations’ will solve ANYTHING? Think of the ‘HOW’, then think of the ‘HOW MUCH’, then think of the ‘WHO’ and just keep going!
Few, if any, of the recipients will think the amount is sufficient and even then different countries will do different amounts ... Then, once (IF) this process is done, other oppressed will ask for theirs! This is an infinite game AND there is NO GOOD ENDING for it!

1st. You can start with those who originally enslaved others and take your boo chit complaints up with them, going back thousands of years.
2nd. Slavery has been practiced since time immemorial and is not unique to the modern age, Medieval age or any other time.
It is still an anethema to God and those of us who believe we all children of God and that we are to aid an support each other.
3rd. Slavery is still practiced and you have done nothing to end it where it still exists.
Slavery is not a function of race. It is a function of power.
Tell your stories to the Toltecs, Visigoths, Mayan’s, Normans, Japanese or whomever.
You people really are worthless and this is just another device to institute your global world order crap, which will ultimately become another form of slavery.
