NBA legend Dominique Wilkins has opened up for the first time about the shocking moment he was turned away from an upscale Atlanta restaurant because of the color of his skin.

In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com the Hall of Famer, nine-time NBA All-Star and Atlanta Hawks Vice President told how he felt the sting of discrimination as the host of Le Bilboquet looked him up and down then refused to seat him on the grounds that they were trying to 'keep a level of elegance.'

He said, 'I've never got turned down by a single restaurant in my life until this new restaurant. I've been to all the top restaurants in the city – that's better food – and they've never turned me down.'

He’s a lying SOS.

He didn’t meet the dress code. So now he’s playing the race card.

Were you there or something?

The article says the restaurant told him they didn't have seats available, even though there were plenty of empty seats and other walk-ins were getting tables. If restaurants have dress codes, they should be clearly labeled out front to avoid embarrassing potential customers.

It’s sad, but we have the “woke” left and their media to blame for shoving white vrs black racism down our throats. Everything was fine, this never would have happened 2 years ago. They have succeeded in opening the healing wound of race relations our country had gone a long way to mend. It’s unfortunate, but there is now a growing animosity against the once nearly invisible skin color awareness in current social situations in an increasingly negative way.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No, but I’ve read many previous articles. Have you? If so, you’d know this was a dress code issue.
That’s all.
“We have done and will continue do the work to ensure our restaurant
is a place where all feel welcome.” The restaurant’s general manager
told Atlanta’s WGCL-TV on Monday that Wilkins was turned away
because he was “in track pants.” “We were being consistent with our
policy,” said the GM, Mark Hoefer.May 25, 2021
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Dominique Wilkins in anything but some form of track suit, with sneakers and a Kangol.
Well, if he “looked him up and down” it is obvious that it was not the COLOR OF HIS SKIN that made him unsightly.
Perhaps people in general should dress a little better before going to restaurants and weddings and such.
Sidebar…
Eric Montross thought the Celtics drafted him to play basketball.
Wrong!!! They drafted him to drive Dee Brown around Boston…
If you ever served, you would know that anyone wearing a hat in an Officer’s Club had to buy the house a round.
Well, “reported to” doesn’t mean a lot these days. They could have said: “You’re with the NBA, that racist jock outfit? Go away. We don’t allow those who profit from institutionalized racism here.”
I went to a restaurant in 1996 with my parents in Newport, RI and they wouldn’t let me in because I didn’t have a jacket.
They did offer to lend me one from their...er...”collection”.
Which I gratefully accepted and went in.
I miss the days when you had to actually get dressed to go to an expensive restaurant for a special occasion.
Now, you see people in pajamas-real adults, wearing real pajamas-and it just is not the same.
To this day, I take my hat off when I sit inside a restaurant.
I do wear my cover inside other buildings, and even on my way in and out of a hospital which would have been strictly looked down on at one time.
No hat! Would they have turned away Frank Sinatra?
Exactly.
I had a similar experience once in Chicago when I walked into the wrong door.
Hostess was kind of enough to smile and say the place I was looking for was located across the street. Pre Google maps directions sucked.
Would they have turned away Frank Sinatra?
Yes. It falls under their "no dead people policy".
Many years ago, I was asked to leave a hoity-toity bar because I was wearing a hat, which I was told violated their dress code
Or, you could have removed your hat. A friend was told to remove his hat or leave a bar on Worth Street in Palm Beach, Ta-Boo.
