you hear a knock at the door. You peek through the window: it’s the cops, and they’re asking you to let them in. You have a right to say no or not say anything if the police ask to come inside of your home or ask to search your home without a search warrant. You are under no obligation to speak to the police or open the door. It is not a crime to keep the door closed.

Absolutely. In fact if you call the local authorities to have them removed, the local authorities are not going to be happy at all that King Biden is trying to presume authorities that even they themselves do not have. They will be glad to remove them for you and read them the law.

While I’m no legal expert on the subject (and I’m not recommending this, either) I do know of people who have avoided a DWI arrest by getting to their house ahead of the cops and simply not answering the door.

I’m also aware of those who did let the officer in, and were promptly taken to jail.

I do believe “exigent circumstances” must be demonstrated by the police for them to enter without a warrant.

A drunk driver who made it home safely wouldn’t apply.
