Harris lambasted for remark on rural voters' ability to cast ballots

Vice President Kamala Harris was decried for saying that some voter identification laws make it "almost impossible" for rural voters at the ballot box, with critics suggesting she doesn't think rural citizens have the wherewithal to use a copy machine.

**SNIP**

"There are a whole lot of people, especially people who live in rural communities, who don't — there's no Kinko's, there's no Office Max near them," Harris said. "People have to understand that when we're talking about voter ID laws, be clear about who you have in mind and what would be required of them to prove who they are. Of course, people have to prove who they are, but not in a way that makes it almost impossible for them to prove who they are."

Critics suggested Harris doesn't understand life in rural America.

"This reminds me that they made Kamala Harris who has only ever lived in cities an envoy to rural Americans," said journalist Zaid Jilani.

"Kamala and her party think rural communities don't have cars, or shopping, or retail, or internet, or phones, or computers or mailboxes or," said conservative commentator Stephen Miller.

"Rural Americans avoid photography in general. They're frightened the magic camera box will steal their soul," wrote Ricochet editor-in-chief Jon Gabriel.

I guess Mz Harris doesn't get out much anywhere. There are copiers all over the place. Libraries. Pack n Ships. Some post offices. And more. Why, I was once in a rural place where I needed a copy, and the local bank branch did it.

Then there are fax machines -- they make copies.

We're in big trouble if Horizontal ever becomes the smartest person in the room

If she and taterhead are the only ones in the room, she is.

This is one of those 'be careful what you wish for' situations.

You don’t have to photo copy your if. If it’s a driver license all you have to be is put the number down. Then they can pull up your license and compare signatures

The Georgia law says you can put your driver license number in the proof box

No you have to provide some form of I’d. Georgia allows you to put in your driver license number as proof. That can be cross referenced in the state data base and your signature compared

Yeah, but do you have an indoor toilet?

I live on 30 acres in rural Florida and raise beef cattle.

When my wife and I retired from jobs in metro Phoenix, I had friends from high school and college who asked if we would have air conditioning and indoor flush toilets.

I couldn't help but laugh. Some people who have always lived in the big city think that if you live in the country, that means you live off the grid out in the wilderness and don't have any modern conveniences.

I tell them I don't have electricity or hi-speed internet in the outhouse but I do have running water in the kitchen. It's a tough life living in rural America.

My wife is in her early 80’s and she officially retired as an Office RN when she turned 70.

Shortly after retirement, a friend asked her what she missed most after retirement.

My wife replied, “A fax machine and a copy machine!”.

On the way home, she asked why I was smiling.

So I took her on a tour of my, now our home office. I had one of the original fax, phone and copier with a speaker phone. It still works after about 3 decades.

Then, I showed her my wireless, HP printer/copier stand alone. Then, I showed her how easy it was to copy anything on that machine manually or online.

Last buy not least is my only Windows equipment, an HP Lap top portable computer with a HP dedicated legal size copier/scanner and printer attached.

Then, I showed her how to email anything from her smart phone to the HP printer site to print emails and anything on line.

She has one church bible study group she was in charge of and with the Covid, she has an on call group to check on weekly. The church wanted a copy of

We set up two Google spread sheets and put them on her new 11 inch chromebook. She enters her reports into the spread sheets and sends them online to the church. She has a weekly one and that is printed out on standard paper. One is printed out on the other printer on the legal paper.

She uses her smart phone to create lists for her and my family contacts, one for friends and one for church people.

99.99% of the time, everything is done in our family room and sent electronically to the printers or wherever.

What this story tells me is that Heels-Up has been spending too much time on her back when she should have been paying even minimal attention to what’s going on around her.

And that’s proof of validating your ID.

When I vote in Georgia, my license is scanned and, since I’m registered to vote, my info pops up on the screen.

The poll workers validate my identity, that I’m registered and that I’m in the right place.

The Dem’s do one heck of a job in confusing folks that Absentee Voting is the same a ‘Mail In Voting & Drop Boxes’. Apples to Onions.

But, the very reason this country is in the predicament it is in.

Yep, she thinks rural folks are so backwards they can’t possibly have copiers in their own homes.

Republicans don’t need copy machines to vote. Democrats do need them — to reproduce 100 ballots to mail in.

Yes, she is a big city elitist.
The worst I have seen was Minnesota.
They don’t like outsiders.
They view people from the South as stupid.
They view people from Texas as downright retarded.
