I have always held that there is a difference between smart and intelligent and knowledgeable. A college grad is knowledgeable, but not necessarily intelligent or smart (see AOC for an example). Someone that is intelligent understands how to apply the formulas of knowledge. This is where most scientists reside, although lately, we are seeing a lot who are willing to forego the formulas to attest to outcomes that could not be determined empirically (see Climate Change and just about any “science” related to COVID). Smart ... you can be without being knowledgeable or intelligent. Smart is the practical application of what knowledge you have to solve real world problems. As a interesting observation, when dating I noticed most “intelligent” women were liberals, whereas most “smart” women were conservatives.
I rank smarts by how successfully a person lives life. A person who consistently makes poor decisions that detrimentally effect his life is not smart, no matter how many IQ points he might have.
