At 3:50pm PST felt a serious 4.8 earthquake here in Sacramento. The house rocked, the pond sloshed, internet went down briefly, no damage noted.
The US Geological Survey shows the quake I felt was preceded thirty seconds earlier by a 5.9 in nearby Nevada. It is possible that the Nevada quake triggered the quake in California.
Well that’s weird. After I heard it on the radio I looked at the USGS earthquake map and it showed a 4.8 11km from Farmington CA, just east of Stockton. Now that spot is gone, removed from the map and database. So evidently it was reported incorrectly? Can un-do a quake!
Maybe all this has been coming from the swarm on the NV border.
Sacramento suburbs here. Felt it quite strongly, about five seconds of rolling side to side. Then it was over. The epicenter is about 100 miles due east of me.
Wouldn’t have wanted to have been in an old brick building there that was built before earthquake standards went into effect.
But it looks like it was out in the middle of nowhere, so hopefully, no injuries.
Workers at 2020 West El Camino evacuated. Can see it from here.
The presence of your chickens is requested at the post about the grasshopper invasion.
Heh, he’s still alive? Most assuredly tickled with the stolen election.
“The presence of your chickens is requested at the post about the grasshopper invasion.”
They would LOVE that!!!
Yeah, he’s caught some flack and seems to be keeping his commie opinions off the air now. Just happened to be a Deep Tracks day ;-)
If I had control of the earthquake machine he would not have any difficulty feeling it at all.
Odd. The USGS had identified a 4.8 near Farmington CA and now they don’t mention it.
I imagine they’ve reclassed the whole thing as the 5.9 in Nevada. Wild that a quake over 100 miles away from here would feel like my house was at sea!
What city is that? Mountain View?
Sacramento. It’s a 12/14 story tower north of downtown.
That map needs to expand its circle because we felt it southwest of Stockton.
Doesn’t seem to be anyone outside now so they went back in. I assume the place is safe.
Speaking for myself, as a lifelong resident of California, (old man), anything less that a 5.0 is rather insignificant. I heard this earthquake more than I felt it. It sounded like a big diesel truck coming up my driveway!
Me too, I thought it was the wind, then wife said did you just get dizzy? There was an earthquake.
No doubt...I have property in the north bay, but haven’t been notified of any problems...yet.
...PST...

I live 40 miles north of the 5.9 quake near the West Walker River. It was quite impressive. US 395, the major North/South route in the Eastern Sierra is closed at the California/Nevada border due to rock slides.
I’m about 60 miles from the epicenter, but our granite mountains don’t dull the shaking at all. The original quake was rather frightening. My grandson (8years old) was in tears. We’ve felt many aftershocks since. The Golden Retriever isn’t very happy at the moment either.
