About a year ago, Tucker Carlson, the Daily Caller’s top editor, joined famed conspiratorialist Alex Jones for a discussion about American society and politics. In an exchange that attracted some attention on the Internet, Jones spun one of his classic theories about how the country is changing:
The Democrats went from being the Ku Klux Klan party of race, with Sen. Byrd and all them, to literally going, ‘OK, we’re going to go race-politic with the minorities, make them the majority.’ And so basically they went from financing…La Raza, all the Ford Foundation. And that’s why you have this new race-based system where we all have been conditioned as Republicans or as Libertarians or as white people to be, ‘Oh my gosh, we’re loving, we’re not racist — yes, please, do whatever, I’m sorry I’m white, and beat ourselves with whips on the head. And then meanwhile, the Democrats have just recreated the Ku Klux Klan movement, but they’ve done it with minorities.
Presented with those thoughts (and others — Jones’s monologue was longer than the quote above), Carlson responded, “Yeah, there’s a lot of truth in that. I wish there weren’t. There’s no question that the country is more race-conscious than it was when I was a kid.”
Question: Why didn’t Carlson stick up for his party?
According to D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics spokeswoman Denise Tolliver, Carlson is a registered Democrat in the District of Columbia. His registration dates back to 2006. He has company: The District is three-quarters Democratic — some people whose politics align with a competing party register Democratic in order to assert their preferences in critical Democratic primaries.
The fast-talking Carlson likes to portray himself and the Daily Caller as bastions of independent thinking.

Tucker is the most independent voice left on television. I don’t watch him anymore just because I don’t watch Fox anymore. But if you can find his opening monologues on you tube it’s almost always worth your time. Even he is restricted by Fox in what he is allowed to cover, but he regularly stretches the limits.
The rest of the channel is just noise.
Look let’s quit being distracted by the fact that he was a registered dem, that’s hardly the issue here. It’s his apparently cozy relationship with Hunter Biden as exhibited in the emails that is the issue sheesh.

I agree. Lots of conservative people have been Democrats, Liberals, or full on Leftists at some point on their lives. Even Ronald Reagan was a Democrat.
David Horowitz is a great example. Look at him now, he is rock solid and a valuable voice as a conservative, but was once a committed radical leftist and legal counsel for the Black Panthers.
He got “mugged” when a woman he hired was murdered because the Black Panthers thought she knew more than she should have.
We need to allow people to change.

It would be interesting to go back and examine the personal political history of many of the people on here who seem to take great joy in bringing down someone like Tucker Carlson.
I wonder how many of them would stand up to the scrutiny if it were applied to themselves in earlier times in their lives.
I am not a huge fan of Tucker Carlson, though I have watched videos of him online a few times, since I don’t watch television and have never had cable. But I don’t care if he was once a Democrat or even a Leftist. I never cared for his delivery, but...if he publicly opposes things we think are evil, how can that be bad?
People can change.
They get “mugged”. They get out of college and collect their first real paycheck and see half of it gone. They have to raise a family and see their kids being taught Critical Race Theory or have drag queens show up in their 1st grader’s class.
Or they find out the government has been tapping into their phones, texts, and emails to spy on them.

Besides, who gives a rat’s ass if Tucker Carlson is only interested in his ratings. Who cares?
Many people on this forum would be just fine if there were no counterbalancing voices at all to those on the Left in the Media, and are just as happy as pigs in a filthy sty to take it on the chin and lose every cultural war and eventually the country. A lot of those people are the same ones who think conservatism will rise up, guns in hand, and storm the walls to take back the country by force.
Which is fine and good.
But why let it get to that point?
Tucker Carlson is a loud voice. He says the right things most of the time, and says them in a forceful manner. Without him, who at all (besides a very few like Trump) speaks out on any views to a wide audience that align with ours even remotely? Do those people really care about his motives for doing so? I doubt it. Those people out there just hear a countervailing voice.
I just have to shake my head sometimes.
There is nothing to rationalize. Its perfectly legal to register as a Democrat to vote. Same as its legal to register as Republican. No one needs to be put to trial for registering to vote.
And why the heck would you post an article from 2015 claiming Tucker registered to vote as a Democrat anyway if not for mischief?

As I keep saying it’s not his registration as a Dem that is the primary issue here, it’s the other stuff on the emails. I myself registered as a Dem at 18, it wasn’t until midway thru the Clinton administration that I finally woke up. I have no problem with people who were previously Dems as I was once one myself.

I don’t know how long you have been in this Forum, but if there’s anything you should know by now, it is a Forum dedicated to the free and open exchange of ideas and opinion.
When someone posts something from the mainstream media, it does not necessarily mean that he agrees with the views of the article. I post articles like this from the WaPo to elicit thoughtful comments from FReepers, hopefully to refute the writer.
Now regarding Tucker Carlson, we DO KNOW that he has been solid and sensible on most issues... it is what he does not touch that concerns many folks in this forum... chief among them are the anomalies in the November 2020 election and Hunter Biden’s laptop and how the information implicates the current President.
