The Gene for Red Hair is recessive. If a child has red hair, that means both parents carried the gene. If a couple both carry the gene, the chances of a red-headed baby are 1 in 4.
I also have Scots/Irish ancestors, and dozens of red-headed cousins. My Dad had red hair, and so did I.
My grand daughter is a red-head, and has 3 red-headed children. Two with blondish tints and one is just flaming red.
I’m a redhead, and have 4 kids, none of whom are redheads. I have 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, none of which are redheads. :(
I did not like having red hair as a child; now I wish I had been proud of it. Red hair is beautiful. (Except for dyed fire engine redheads. Nobody has naturally fire engine red hair.)
My baby brother has red hair, one sister was blond but turned dark as she got older, and another brother and sister with dark brown hair. My brother’s hair was a more orange color where mine was darker.
