Police said Tuesday they believe a Cobb County golf pro was not targeted when he was shot and killed Saturday afternoon at his Kennesaw country club.

Gene Siller went to check on a report of an unauthorized pickup truck that had driven onto the Pinetree County Club course around 2:30 p.m., police said. Shortly after, officers found him on the green of the 10th hole with a gunshot wound to the head, police spokeswoman Officer Shenise Barner told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Police believe Siller “happened upon a crime in progress” and was “killed because he witnessed an active crime taking place.”

We are told to be on the lookout for a male with long hair. That certainly narrows it down. Clearly the killer is a minority male being protected by the media and even the cops who refuse to give us an accurate description.

Cobb county DA is black as is the leadership in the PD.

They care more about covering up evil and giving safe harbor to it than serving justice.

This is why white flight exists.

but a ground-penetrating radar check of the area’s golf course sand traps might yield interesting results.

You've been watching too many episodes of "The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch".........LOL!

Perp knows the golfers have drugs. He kills the two and steals the drugs.

The 10th hole of an 18 hole golf course is the typical starting tee for the back nine holes.

It's unlikely the truck would have driven past the starter, past the foursomes waiting in line just to drive across the fairway and attack some golfers you presume to be carrying drugs in his golf bag right in front of the foresome behind them.......LOL!

So where are the golf clubs of the dead dudes found in the back of the truck?

Glad you're not in charge of investigating this case..........LOL!

While there is no mention of it by the local police, I suspect that vehicle was in pursuit by police and was using that golf course as a means of escape until it drove over that bunker and got stuck.

That then prompted the club pro to drive out there to investigate when he too was shot dead and the driver of the truck, unable to free the truck, then ran away.......

Geez, turn off your tv. You’ll be smarter. And read more, post less.

“You’ve been watching too many episodes of “The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch”.........LOL!”

I’ll have to check that one out. In the Cobb case, the killer drove a stolen vehicle carrying two bodies right to the sand trap. Hmm. When you think about it, sand traps would be mighty convenient for victim disposal: easy digging in sand; bury them 5 feet down; rake back the surface neatly; and viola!. The groundskeepers would rake it daily hiding any subsidence. Might not be found for years. Look for this in my next crime novel, “Death Plays Through”.

FWIW, while it’s a great idea perhaps in other parts of the country, in Atlanta it wouldn’t work. Greenside bunkers aren’t very deep at all because the the red clay that abounds in Northern Georgia. The layer of sand is reasonably thin, four to six inches at most. Under that, it’s the tightly compacted - and incredibly difficult to dig in - red clay.

FMC: In regards to your nasty post and personal attack…

Two other posters correctly observed that I was not referring to the golf pro. My reply to ScubaDiver’s comment was clearly pertaining to the general inclination of law enforcement to avoid stirring up cultural sensitivities.

The limited description of the alleged shooter that was offered by the police and media indicates a reluctance to provide more detailed information to assist in the man hunt. This is not an uncommon occurrence in these days of extreme political correctness.

I noticed in your subsequent comment that the murdered golf pro was a good friend of your partner and that you’ve both been in shock over this tragedy. I can appreciate your emotional strain, but that doesn’t warrant venting nasty, intemperate and unfounded comments at someone else.

As previously stated, two other posters pointed out to you that I was not referring to the golf pro, but rather other members of the crime scene. It is telling that you did not reply to either of them.

Awaiting (but not expecting) your apology.

"The limited description of the alleged shooter that was offered by the police and media

First, CLEARLY you weren't saying anything derogatory about the golf pro. I didn't catch that comment until you brought it to my attention. If I had, I would have said something earlier.

Secondly, in fairness to the Cobb County Police, they in fact DID release a complete description of the alleged assailant. While some local suburban papers/websites - including Kennesaw State University - included the complete description in their reporting, the AJC did not. Some time back, the AJC announced that were adopting a policy wherein unless the suspect's racial identity was relevant to crime itself (ie. a white guy killing a black guy which would 'obviously' be racist in nature), the AJC would no longer include the suspect's racial/ethnic background in their reporting. Never mind if that information would in fact be helpful to readers in potentially identifying the suspect for law enforcement.

Virtually every other national and mainstream TV/radio reports followed the AJC's lead in this case and didn't disclose to viewers/readers/listeners the ethnic background of the perp in this shooting.

It appears that the personal connection to the golf pro clouded FMC’s judgement and triggered the outburst. But what was disappointing was the lack of response to others who clearly interpreted my post correctly.

I did search for additional information pertaining to the description of the suspected assailant. Mostly just seeing a tall guy with long hair (no reference to skin tone, color of hair). It is good to know that Cobb County Police did release a more detailed description and to know that they are not totally paralyzed by political correctness. Thank you for noting that.

My apology. I was wrong, and you were right to take offense. None intended, though. Chemo x 6 months tends to have unintended consequences I’ve been told. Let’s move on and past. Take care, sorry.

It was what I thought also, but what the hell do I know. It sounds to me like they are trying to make up a lie that the sheep will believe so they can clear the guilty guy.
